Measurement Conditions

The device distinguishes autonomously between ambient temperature and that of
the item, you want to meter. Please note, if there are large differences to
measure, that it can take up to 30 minutes, until the infrared sensor has adapted
to the changing measurement conditions. In such cases, please meter the lower
temperatures, and then, some minutes later, the higher temperatures. This is
caused by the functioning of the infrared sensor and no deficit of the device.

Measuring Range

The device is equipped with a distance factor (D/S) of 8:1. That means e. g that
the surface temperature of an item with a diameter of 10 cm will be metered
accurately at a distance of 80 cm. For rough calculated estimates, e. g. to detect
thermal bridges, larger distances can be bridged, too.
The following diagram shows the relation between measuring distance (D) and
measuring range (S) as well as the ratio of distance between laser beam and
measuring centre of the infrared sensor.
