dann die Schrauben der Befestigungshaken in die

mit den Haken verschraubt. Die Befestigung der
Lampen erfolgt wie zuvor beschrieben.
WARNUNG Wird das Gerät hängend über Perso-
nen installiert, muss es zusätzlich
gesichert werden, z. B. durch Fang-
seile, die um das Dimmergehäuse
geschlungen werden.
Sind keine Lasten (z. B. Lampen) am Dimmer-
gehäuse montiert, kann auch die mitgelieferte
Halteöse zur Befestigung eines Sicherungsseils
genutzt werden. Die Mutter der Halteöse in die
obere Gehäusenut einschieben und die Öse in der
Mitte des Dimmers darin festdrehen. Fangseile so
befestigen, dass der Fallweg des Gerätes nicht
mehr als 20 cm betragen kann.
5 Anschlüsse herstellen
5.1 Lampen anschließen
WARNUNG Auch wenn die Ausgangsspannung
heruntergeregelt ist, kann an den
Steckdosen
Netzspannung anliegen. Darum vor
dem Anschluss von Lampen oder
dem Arbeiten an den Lampen unbe-
dingt den DPB-40DMX vom 230-V-
Netz trennen!
An die Steckdosen (3) des DPB-40DMX können alle
Arten von dimmbaren Scheinwerfern, Strahlern,
Leuchten oder sonstigen Lichtquellen angeschlos-
sen werden, die mit einer Betriebsspannung von
230 V~ arbeiten und keine induktive Last darstellen,
d. h. keine Transformatoren oder Drosseln enthalten.
Für nicht dimmbare Lampen kann der DPB-40DMX
als Schalter betrieben werden. Die maximale Bela-

If no load (e. g. lamps) is mounted at the dimmer
housing, also the supplied holding eyelet can be
used for fixing a safety rope. Insert the nut of the
holding eyelet into the upper housing groove and
tighten the eyelet in the groove in the centre of the
dimmer. Fix safety ropes so that the maximum fall-
ing distance of the unit is 20 cm.

Connections
5.1 Connecting the lamps
WARNING Even if the output voltage is reduced,
a dangerous mains voltage may be
present at the sockets (3). Therefore,
prior to connecting lamps or working
at the lamps, disconnect the DPB-
40DMX in any case from the 230 V
mains!
The sockets (3) of the DPB-40DMX allow to connect
all types of reflectors, light effect units, lights, and
other light sources which can be dimmed and which
work with an operating voltage of 230 V~ and do not
represent an inductive load, i. e. do not contain any
transformers or choke coils. The DPB-40DMX can
be operated as a switch for lamps which cannot be
dimmed. The maximum load at one output must not
exceed 1150 W (5 A), the total load of the four out-
puts must not exceed 4140 W (18 A). Please also
observe in any case chapter 5.4 "Mains connection"
in connection with the total load!
5.2 Connecting the control unit
For connection of a control unit with DMX512 proto-
col (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from "img

5.2 Steuergerät anschließen
Zum Anschluss eines Steuergerätes mit DMX512-
Protokoll (wie z. B. DMX-1440 oder DMX-510USB
von „img Stage Line" oder eines weiteren DPB-
40DMX im Steuermodus MASTER) an Dimmer und
andere DMX-Empfänger sollten spezielle abge-
schirmte Kabel für hohen Datenfluss verwendet
werden. Normale abgeschirmte Mikrofonkabel mit
einem
2 × 0,22 mm
nur bei einer Gesamtkabellänge bis 100 m zu emp-
fehlen. Bei Leitungslängen ab 150 m wird das Zwi-
schenschalten eines DMX-Aufholverstärkers emp-
fohlen (z. B. SR-103DMX von „img Stage Line").
Die Geräte folgendermaßen anschließen:
1) Den Eingang (2) des Dimmers mit dem DMX-
Ausgang des Lichtsteuergerätes verbinden (Kon-
taktbelegung der Buchse
2) Den Ausgang (7) mit dem DMX-Eingang des
nächsten Dimmers oder Lichteffektgerätes ver-
binden (Kontaktbelegung der Buchse

des nachfolgenden Gerätes verbinden usw., bis
alle DMX-Empfänger angeschlossen sind.
Die DMX-Ausgangsbuchse besitzt eine Verriege-
lung. Zum Herausziehen des Steckers den
PUSH-Hebel drücken.
3) Den DMX-Ausgang des letzten DMX-Empfän-
gers der Kette mit einem 120-Ω-Widerstand
(> 0,3 W) abschließen: An die Pins 2 und 3 eines
XLR-Steckers den Widerstand anlöten und den
Stecker in den DMX-Ausgang stecken oder einen
entsprechenden Abschlussstecker (z. B. DLT-123
von „img Stage Line") verwenden.

The DMX output jack has a latching. To pull out
the plug, press the PUSH lever.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX receiv-
er of the row to a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Solder
the resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR plug
and connect the plug to the DMX output or use a
corresponding terminating plug (e. g. DLT-123
from "img Stage Line").
5.3 Connecting the infrared receiver
To be able to connect the dimmer via the supplied
infrared remote control (fig. 2), first connect the IR
receiver (fig. 3) to the dimmer.
Note: As long as the receiver is connected to the
dimmer, no operating parameters can be changed at
the dimmer. Therefore, the connection should not be
made until all adjustments have been completed.
Connect the RJ45 plug (25) to the jack (6) so that
it locks into place. When removing the plug, press
the unlocking device at the plug.

5.3 Infrarot-Empfänger anschließen
Um den Dimmer über die mitgelieferte Infrarot-Fern-
bedienung (Abb. 2) steuern zu können, muss
zunächst der IR-Empfänger (Abb. 3) an den Dimmer
angeschlossen werden.
Hinweis: Solange der Empfänger mit dem Dimmer
verbunden ist, können am Dimmer keine Betriebs-
parameter verändert werden. Daher sollte der
Anschluss erst erfolgen, nachdem alle Einstellun-
gen durchgeführt worden sind.
Den RJ45-Stecker (25) in die Buchse (6) so ein-
stecken, dass dieser einrastet. Beim Herausziehen
des Steckers die Entriegelung am Stecker drücken.
5.4 Netzanschluss herstellen
Zur Stromversorgung das Gerät über die Power-
®
Con
-Buchse (1) an das 230-V-Netz anschließen.
Ein Netzkabel liegt dem Gerät nicht bei. Dabei darf
die gesamte Anschlussleistung aller an den Lampen-
ausgängen (3) angeschlossenen Geräte maximal
4140 W (18 A) betragen. Bei einer Leistung bis
3680 W (16 A) kann zum Anschluss ein Netzkabel
®
mit einem PowerCon
stecker (z. B. AAC-115P von „img Stage Line") ver-
wendet werden. Bei einer höheren Leistung ist der
Anschluss z. B. über einen CEE-Stecker mit einem
Nennstrom ≥ 18 A möglich. Der Anschluss muss
fachgerecht, den landesspezifischen Bestimmungen
Kapi-
gemäß erfolgen.
Achten Sie auch darauf, dass der Stromkreis, an
den das Gerät angeschlossen wird, entsprechend
hoch abgesichert ist und die Zuleitungen einen aus-
reichenden Querschnitt aufweisen.
6 Bedienung
6.1 Ein- und Ausschalten
Mit dem Anschluss der Netzleitung an das 230-V-
Netz ist das Gerät eingeschaltet und betriebsbereit.

connection must be made in an expert way accord-
ing to the country-specific regulations.
Ensure that the electric circuit the unit is connect-
ed to is protected by a fuse of a corresponding high
value and that the supply cables show a sufficient
cross section.
6
Operation
6.1 Switching on and off
With the connection of the mains cable to the 230 V
mains the unit is switched on and ready for opera-
tion. The LED display (10) and the LEDs (9 and 11)
show the current control mode and the operating
mode last selected. The control modes and the op-
erating modes are in detail described in the following
chapters. To switch off, disconnect the dimmer from
the mains. The dimmer should at least be switched
on for one second before it is disconnected from the
mains as otherwise there may be malfunctions and
all adjustments have to be reset (
the dimmer is disconnected from the mains for more
than about one month, it may be necessary to
remake the adjustments of the operating parame-
ters after carrying out the RESET function (
ter 6.6).
