Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an einen IBM-kompatiblen PC mit USB-Schnittstelle vorgese-
hen und stellt dort zusätzliche USB-Ports zur Verfügung. Zwei PCs können über den einge-
bauten Umschalter wechselweise auf den USB-Hub und die daran angesteckten Geräte zugrei-
fen.

Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist das eigenmächtige Umbauen und/oder
Verändern des Produkts nicht gestattet.
Der Aufbau des Produkts entspricht der Schutzklasse 2. Als Spannungsquelle darf nur eine
ordnungsgemäße Netzsteckdose (230V/50Hz) des öffentlichen Versorgungsnetzes verwendet
werden.
Geräte, die an Netzspannung betrieben werden, gehören nicht in Kinderhände. Lassen Sie
deshalb in Anwesenheit von Kindern besondere Vorsicht walten.
Gehen Sie vorsichtig mit dem Produkt um - durch Stöße, Schläge oder dem Fall aus bereits
geringer Höhe wird es beschädigt.

Anschluss
Verbinden Sie die Stromversorgungsbuchse des USB-Hubs über das mitgelieferte
Steckernetzteil mit einer Netzsteckdose; verbinden Sie eine der quadratischen USB-Typ-B-
Buchsen über das mitgelieferte USB-Kabel mit einem USB-Port Ihres PCs.
Wenn Sie den zweiten PC mit dem "4fach-USB-Hub mit 2fach-Umschalter" verbinden wollen,
ist ein zusätzliches USB-Anschlusskabel (USB-Stecker Typ A auf USB-Stecker Typ B) erfor-
derlich. Wählen Sie dessen Länge nach dem Aufstellungsort Ihrer Geräte (max. Länge bis 5m).
An den vier USB-Typ A-Buchsen können Sie nun Ihre USB-Geräte betreiben.
Umschaltung
Drücken Sie den Schalter auf dem USB-Hub, um alle am USB-Hub angeschlossenen USB-
Geräte entweder mit PC1 oder mit PC2 zu verbinden.
Natürlich müssen auf beiden PCs die Treiber für alle USB-Geräte installiert sein/werden.

Handhabung
Der Betrieb ist nur in trockenen Innenräumen zulässig.
Verwenden Sie das Produkt niemals gleich dann, wenn es von einem kalten in einen warmen
Raum gebracht wird. Das dabei entstehende Kondenswasser kann unter Umständen das
Produkt zerstören.
Lassen Sie das Produkt zuerst uneingeschaltet auf Zimmertemperatur kommen. Dies
kann u.U. mehrere Stunden dauern.
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Isolierung des gesamten Produkts weder beschädigt noch zerstört
wird. Das Gehäuse darf nicht geöffnet werden!
Eine Wartung oder Reparatur darf nur duch eine Fachwerkstatt durchgeführt werden.
Überprüfen Sie vor jedem Gebrauch das Produkt auf Beschädigungen!
Falls Sie Beschädigungen feststellen, so darf das Produkt NICHT an die
Netzspannung angeschlossen werden! Es besteht Lebensgefahr!
Es ist anzunehmen, dass ein gefahrloser Betrieb nicht mehr möglich ist, wenn
- das Gerät sichtbare Beschädigungen aufweist,
- das Gerät nicht mehr funktioniert und
- nach längerer Lagerung unter ungünstigen Verhältnissen oder
- nach schweren Transportbeanspruchungen.
Wenn das Produkt längere Zeit nicht in Betrieb genommen wird, so trennen Sie das
Steckernetzteil von der Netzsteckdose.
Vermeiden Sie folgende widrige Umgebungsbedingungen am Aufstellungsort oder beim
Transport:
- Nässe oder zu hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit
- Extreme Kälte oder Hitze
- Staub oder brennbare Gase, Dämpfe oder Lösungsmittel
- starke Vibrationen
- starke Magnetfelder, wie in der Nähe von Maschinen oder Lautsprechern
Achten Sie beim Aufstellen des Produkts darauf, dass die Kabel nicht geknickt oder gequetscht
werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Der USB-Hub kann nur im "Self-Powered"-Modus betrieben werden, er muss also über das
mitgelieferte Steckernetzteil mit Strom versorgt werden. Ein "Bus-Powered"-Betrieb
(Stromversorgung erfolgt über PC) ist nicht möglich.
• Im abgesicherten Modus von Windows ist kein USB-Betrieb möglich.
USB-Tastaturen und USB-Mäuse funktionieren deshalb normalerweise nicht (evtl. bietet das
BIOS Ihres Motherboards USB-Unterstützung für eine USB-Tastatur bzw. -Maus, möglicher-
weise müssen Tastatur und Maus dann aber direkt am PC angesteckt sein und nicht über
einen USB-Hub).
• USB-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb. Sie brauchen also
nicht Ihren PC ausschalten, wenn Sie Geräte ein- oder ausstecken wollen (bei anderen
Schnittstellen kann dies zu Beschädigungen führen, z.B. wenn Sie eine PS/2-Maus während
dem Betrieb ein- oder ausstecken).
Finden jedoch Datenübertragungen auf dem USB-Port statt, z.B. wenn ein externes Laufwerk
Daten an den PC liefert, und Sie ziehen den USB-Stecker heraus, könnte Windows abstür-
zen und evtl. auch andere Daten beschädigt werden!
Gleiches gilt, wenn Sie den Umschalter auf dem USB-Hub betätigen.
• Über die im USB-Hub eingebaute Umschaltfunktion ersparen Sie sich das lästige Umstecken
von USB-Geräten; z.B. wenn Sie einen USB-Scanner oder eine externe USB-Festplatte für
zwei PCs nutzen wollen.
Eine gleichzeitige Nutzung des USB-Geräts ist jedoch nicht möglich! Es kann nur umge-
schaltet werden, so dass entweder PC1 das USB-Gerät nutzen kann oder PC2.
• Der Standfuß passt nur in einer Orientierung. Die Aussparung im Standfuß muss auf der
Seite mit den 4 USB-Typ-A-Buchsen liegen.

Prescribed use
The product is designed for a connection to an IBM-compatible PC with USB interface provid-
ing additional USB ports there. Two PCs can access the USB hub and the connected machines
alternately via the incorporated commutator.

The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product itself is inadmissible because
of safety and approval reasons (CE).
The construction of the product is according to class II. Only a regular mains socket
(230V/50Hz) may be used for power supply.
Keep devices that are connected to the mains voltage out of reach of children. Be especially
careful when children are present.
Handle the product with special care - it could be damaged by concussions, impacts or when
falling even from modest heights.

Connection
Connect the power supply socket of the USB hubs with a mains socket via the provided mains
plug; connect one of the square USB type B sockets with a USB port of your PC via the provid-
ed USB cable.
If you want to connect the second PC with the "4fold USB hub with 2fold commutator" you will
need an additional USB connector cable (USB connector type A to USB connector type B).
Select its length according to the location of your machines (max. length 5m).
You can now use your USB devices at the four USB type A sockets.
Commutating
Press the button on the USB hub in order to connect all the USB devices connected to the USB
hub either with PC1 or with PC2.

Handling
Operation is only permitted in dry indoor places.
Never turn on the device immediately after it has been brought from a cold into a warm room.
Condensation water that forms might destroy your device.
Leave the device switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature. This may
take several hours.
Make sure that the insulation of the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed. The
housing must not be opened!
Maintenance or repair may only be done by a specialised workshop.
Check the device for damages before every use.
If you notice any damages, the product must NOT be connected to the mains
supply! Danger!
A safe operation has probably become impossible if
- the device exhibits visible damage
- the device does not operate any longer
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the product was exposed to extraordinary stress during transport.
If the product has not been used for a longer period of time, pull the mains plug.
Avoid the following adverse conditions at the location of set-up and during transport:
- Dampness or high humidity
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or inflammable gases, vapours or solvants
- strong vibrations
- strong magnetic fields like near machines or loudspeakers
Make sure that the cables are not squashed or kinked during set-up.
Tips & notes
• The USB hub can only be operated in a "self-powered" mode, it must be powered via the
provided mains plug unit. A "bus-powered" operation (power supply via the PC) is not pos-
sible.
• In the saveguarded Windows mode a USB operation is not possible.
Therefore, USB keyboards and USB mice normally do not function (the BIOS of your mother-
board possibly offers USB support for a USB keyboard or mouse, perhaps keyboard and
mouse must then be connected directly to the PC and not via a USB hub).
• USB devices allow plugging and unplugging during operation, so you need not switch off your
PC to plug or unplug the device (at other interfaces this may lead to damages, e.g. if you plug
or unplug a PS/2 mouse during operation.)
If you pull the USB link cable from the USB port during a data transmission via the USB link
cable e.g. while an external disk drive is transmitting data directly to the PC, however,
Windows could crash and ever other data might be damaged!
The same applies if you activate the commutator on the USB hub.
• With the commuting function integrated into the USB hub, changing over USB devices
becomes superfluous, if you want to use a USB scanner or an external USB hard disk for two
PCs.
However, using the USB device at the same time is not possible! It can only be commuted so
that either PC1 or USB device can use the PC2.
• The stand will only fit in one direction. The groove in the stand must be located at the side
with the 4 USB type A sockets.
