• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the (rechargeable) batteries.
• (Rechargeable) batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used

Changing the battery
• Open the battery compartment cover by pressing the latch.
• Insert two AAA batteries into the battery compartment (9) in the correct polarity. The correct
polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) is indicated by the markings in the battery compartment. The
radio alarm clock will beep for 2 seconds.
• Replace the battery compartment cover and ensure that the latch
clicks into place.
Rechargeable batteries can also be used. However,
rechargeable batteries provide a lower operating voltage (1.2 V compared to 1.5 V
for a non-rechargeable battery), which results in a shorter battery life.
DCF signal reception
a) Automatic synchronisation
• Once you have inserted the batteries, the alarm clock will automatically search for a DCF
signal. This is indicated by the flashing radio signal symbol ( ) on the display. The alarm
clock will automatically attempt to receive the DCF signal.
• The current time will be displayed as soon as the DCF signal has been decoded.
• During summer,
will be displayed to indicate daylight saving time.
Receiving and decoding a DCF signal can take three to five minutes. Do not move
the alarm clock during this time. Do not press any buttons or switches!
Poor DCF signal reception should be expected when the clock is near to
metal-coated insulated glass windows, reinforced concrete, coated wallpapers or
electronic devices, or when the clock is placed in a cellar.
If the correct time is not shown after ten minutes, place the alarm clock in another
location. Remove the batteries and then replace them after approximately ten
seconds. The alarm clock will attempt to receive a signal again.
b) DCF signal
The alarm clock will attempt to receive a DCF signal every hour to ensure that the time is
synced correctly. The alarm clock only needs to receive one signal per day in order to keep the
time accurate to within one second.
