Web interface
The network switch can be configured via the integrated Web interface. The standard IP-
Address is 192.168.2.1; the user name and the password are both „adminî.
To undertake the configuration by Web interface, you must first assign the LAN connection of
your PC a fixed IP address. This should be something like 192.168.2.x, where x can be between
2 and 254. Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Also be aware of the connection to your user
system. The computer with which you want to run the configuration should be directly connected
to the switch.
As soon as the network connection is complete, open your Web browser and enter
http://192.168.2.1/ in the address bar. The log-in page of the Web interface should now appear.
Enter „admin" as both the username and password here.
The home page for the web server will then appear, from which all of the adjustments can be
made.
Please consult the manufacturer's English instruction manual.
If this is enclosed in PDF format on a CD, you will need „Adobe Reader" to read it;
this can be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com.
PoE (Power over Ethernet)
The network switch provides PoE on the network ports 1 to 24. An end device, such as a network
camera that supports PoE, is thus automatically provided with power over the network cable.
This has the advantage of allowing the use of only one cable for both data transfer and power
supply to the device.
Please note:
The allowed connection capacity of 15.4 Watt per port may not be exceeded! Pay
attention to the technical data of the products to be connected.
In every case, use a fully wired network cable for the connection of a PoE device.
We recommend the use of a cable with the specification of CAT5e or better.
Please observe the operating instructions of the corresponding device.
Resetting to Factory Settings
On the front on the left, next to the LEDs, a countersunk reset button can be found, which can
be used to reset the switch to the factory settings.
Connect the switch to the mains voltage, if it has not already been done. Press and hold the
„Reset" button for 5 seconds and release it afterwards.
The switch restarts; this takes about 20 seconds. Then the switch is reset to the factory settings
(IP address 192.168.2.1; username and password „admin").
Handling
• Use only in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is
risk of an electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. There is also risk
of an electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it in to use. This may take several hours.
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an authorised repair
shop.
• Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply! This
presents a danger to life!
• A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- the product does not function or does not function properly (e.g. a burning smell)
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor
pinched.
• If you do not use the product for a longer period of time (e.g., during storage), dis-
connect the power plug from the mains socket (all the network connections cease
to function!)
• Avoid the following unfavourable environmental conditions at the installation loca-
tion or during transport:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning, unplug the mains plug from the
mains socket (all network connections will cease to function).
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can cause discolouration.
Do not press too hard on the surface during cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Tips & Notes
• If you have your own network or system administrator for your network (such as in a larger
company), please let this person assume the responsibility for connection and wiring. Do not
connect the switch yourself!
• The twisted-pair cable (also called a patch cable) between the switch and the device to be con-
nected should have a max. length of 100m. Use only so-called CAT5e cables that are fully
wired (all 8 contacts of the RJ45 connector are connected 1:1).
• The type of cable to be used with your SFP module (not included in the delivery, it has to be
ordered separately) can be found in the SFP module's instructions (or e.g. on the manufactur-
er's website). The same applies to the maximum possible cable length.
• The maximum theoretical data transfer rate of 10, 100 or 1000MBit/s is usually not achieved
in practice (e.g. 1000MBit = approx. 125MByte/s) During data transmission, not only data, but
also protocol information etc is transmitted; data packages must be repeated or multiple com-
puters may want to transmit data at the same time.
• If the switch is not supplied with power, all the connections will be out of operation. A network
connection is not possible.
• Before the SFP module can be connected to or disconnected from the network switch, the
switch must first be disconnected from the mains voltage.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic products do not belong in the household waste!!
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
