Infrarot-/Bluetooth-USB-Adapter

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an einen USB-Port eines Computers (oder eines USB-Hubs, der an den Computer angesteckt
ist) vorgesehen. Dort dient es entweder zur Herstellung einer Funkverbindung mit anderen dazu geeigneten Bluetooth-Geräten
oder zur Datenübertragung durch Infrarot-Lichtsignale.
Alle enthaltenen Firmennamen und Produktbezeichnungen sind Warenzeichen der jeweiligen Inhaber. Alle
Rechte vorbehalten.

Installation der Treiber/Software
a) Windows 9x, ME oder Windows XP ohne Servicepack bzw. mit Servicepack 1
• Legen Sie die CD ins entsprechende Laufwerk Ihres Computers ein. Wechseln Sie zum Verzeichnis „Bluetooth", dort ins
Verzeichnis „USB". Starten Sie das Programm „Setup.exe" und folgen Sie allen Anweisungen. Dies installiert alle für
Bluetooth erforderlichen Dateien.
• Bringen Sie den Schalter auf dem Adapter in die Stellung für Bluetooth und schließen Sie den Adapter an einen USB-Port
des Computers an. Windows beendet danach die Treiberinstallation.
• Bringen Sie den Schalter am Adapter in die Stellung für IR. Windows erkennt wiederum neue Hardware und installiert diese.
Ggf. ist bei älteren Windows-Versionen die Windows-CD erforderlich.
b) Windows XP mit Servicepack 2
• Diese Windows-Version bringt eigene Bluetooth-Treiber für das Produkt mit. Die mitgelieferte CD ist nicht erforderlich.
Bringen Sie den Schalter auf dem Adapter in die Stellung für Bluetooth und schließen Sie den Adapter an einen USB-Port
des Computers an. Windows führt nun die Treiberinstallation durch.
Die mitgelieferte Bluetooth-Software kann zusätzlich installiert werden (normalerweise aber nicht erforder-
lich). Windows nutzt nach der Installation jedoch vorrangig seine eigenen Bluetooth-Treiber. Das Programm
„Switch.exe" auf der CD schaltet deshalb zwischen den beiden Bluetooth-Treibern um.
• Bringen Sie den Schalter am Adapter in die Stellung für IR. Windows erkennt wiederum neue Hardware und installiert diese.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Unter DOS oder im abgesicherten Modus von Windows funktioniert USB nicht (oder nur eingeschränkt für USB-Tastatur/
-Maus). Der USB-Adapter kann hier nicht betrieben werden.
• Die bei Bluetooth angegebene Reichweite von bis zu 10m („Class II") ist die Freifeldreichweite, d. h., die Reichweite bei
Sichtkontakt zwischen Sender und Empfänger (ein Bluetooth-Gerät zum anderen). Im praktischen Betrieb befinden sich
jedoch Wände, Zimmerdecken usw. zwischen Sender und Empfänger, wodurch sich die Reichweite entsprechend
reduziert.
Weitere Ursachen für verminderte Reichweiten:
- Hochfrequenzstörungen aller Art (Computer, Monitore, Handys)
- Bebauung jeglicher Art und Vegetation
- Leitende Metallteile, die sich im Nahbereich der Geräte bzw. innerhalb oder nahe der Funkstrecke befinden, z.B.
Heizkörper, metallisierte Isolierglasfenster, Stahlbetondecken usw.
- Beeinflussung der Strahlungscharakteristik der Antennen durch den Abstand von Sender oder Empfänger zu leitenden
Flächen oder Gegenständen (auch zum menschlichen Körper oder Boden)
- Breitbandstörungen in städtischen Gebieten, die den Signal-Rauschabstand verkleinern; das Signal wird in diesem
„Rauschen" nicht mehr erkannt
- Einstrahlung von mangelhaft abgeschirmten elektronischen Geräten, z.B. offen betriebene Computer o.ä.
• Bei IR-Betrieb muss zwischen den IR-Leuchtdioden von Adapter und dem von Ihnen verwendeten Gerät (z.B. ein Handy
mit IR) eine direkte Sichtverbindung vorhanden sein. Legen Sie das Gerät so, dass dessen IR-Öffnung zu der IR-Öffnung
auf dem USB-Adapter zeigt. Der Abstand sollte nicht größer als ca. 0,5m sein (max. ca. 1m).
• Ob zwei Bluetooth-Geräte miteinander Daten austauschen können, ist abhängig vom Gerät und der jeweiligen Software
(z.B. von USB-Bluetooth-Adapter und Bluetooth-fähigem Mobiltelefon). Beachten Sie die Bedienungsanleitung der
anderen Bluetooth-Geräte.

Prescribed use
The product is designed to be connected to a USB port of a computer (or to a USB hub which is connected to the computer).
It serves to establish a radio connection with other suitable Bluetooth devices or to transmit data via IR light signals.

Installation of the driver/Software
a) Windows 9x, ME or Windows XP without Servicepack or with Servicepack 1
• Place the CD in the corresponding drive of your computer. In the directory "Bluetooth" change to directory "USB". Start
the "Setup.exe" program and follow all the instructions. This installs all the files which are necessary for Bluetooth.
• Place the switch on the adapter to the position for Bluetooth and connect the adapter to a USB port of the computer.
Windows ends the installation of the driver.
• Place the switch on the adapter to the position for IR. Windows recognizes the new hardware and installs the latter.
Windows CD might be necessary with older versions of Windows.
b) Windows XP with Servicepack 2
• This version of Windows contains its own Bluetooth driver CD. The CD contained in the delivery is not necessary. Place
the switch on the adapter to the position for Bluetooth and connect the adapter to a USB port of the computer. Windows
proceeds to the installation of the driver.
• Place the switch on the adapter to the position for IR. Windows recognizes the new hardware and installs the latter.
Tips & Notes
• Under DOS or in the protected mode of Windows, USB does not function (or only in a limited way for USB keyboard/mouse).
The USB adapter can not be used here.
• The given range of up to 10m ("ClassII") is the free view range, i.e. with visual contact between sender and receiver (from
one bluetooth device to another). But in practice, walls, ceilings etc. between the transmitter and receiver may affect and
reduce the range.

• In the IR mode, a direct visual contact must exist between the IR light-emitting diodes and the devices which you are using
(e.g. cell phone with IR). Place the device in such a way that its IR opening is directed towards the IR opening on the USB
adapter. The distance should not be bigger than approx. 0,5m (max. approx. 1m).
• The exchange of data between two Bluetooth devices depends on the device and on the corresponding software (e.g. USB
Bluetooth adapter and Bluetooth compatible mobile telephone). Please follow the instructions of the user's manual of the
other Bluetooth devices.

The Bluetooth software contained in the delivery can be installed in addition (however, this is normally not
necessary). After the installation, Windows uses its own Bluetooth driver. The program "Switch.exe" on the
CD switches between both Bluetooth drivers.
High frequency interferences of all types (computer, monitors, cell phones)
Any housing and vegetation
Conductive metal parts which are located near the units or within or near their transmission path, e.g. heaters,
metallized insulation glass windows, reinforced concrete ceilings etc.
Influence on the radiation pattern of antennas caused by the distance from the sender or the receiver to conductive
surfaces or objects (to human bodies or ground also)
Broadband interference in urban areas which reduces the signal-to-noise-ratio; the signal will not be recognized due
to this „noise"
Interference radiation resulting from insufficiently shielded electronics, e.g. turned on computers or the like.
