Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt eignet sich zum Einbau in einen PCI-Slot eines Computergehäuses und stellt dort einen RS232
DB9-Port und einen 10-poligen RS232 RJ45-Port zur Verfügung. Mit dem mitgelieferten 10-poligen RJ45-DB9M-
Adapterkabel können Sie anstelle des RJ45-Ports einen zweiten DB9M-Port nutzen. Mit dem mitgelieferten
Low-Profile-Slotblech können Sie das Produkt auch in dafür passende Gehäuse einbauen. Das Produkt bietet
zwei Hochleistungs-UART-Kanäle der Spezifikation 16C950 mit 128 Byte FIFO und ist rückwärtskompatibel zu
16C550, 16C650, 16C750 und 16C850. Das Produkt ist kompatibel mit der PCI-Spezifikation, der Revision 3.0
und der PCI Power Management Spezifikation 1.1.
Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist das eigenmächtige Umbauen und/oder Verändern des
Produktes nicht gestattet. Eine andere Verwendung als oben beschrieben ist nicht erlaubt und kann zur
Beschädigung des Produkts führen. Darüber hinaus ist dies mit Gefahren, wie z. B. Kurzschluss, Brand,
Stromschlag usw. verbunden. Lesen Sie die Bedienungsanleitung genau durch und bewahren Sie diese für
späteres Nachschlagen auf.

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den Einbau von
einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau werden sowohl das Produkt, als auch Ihr Computer und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll und alle
angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der Netzspannung, ziehen
Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
Falls Sie das Low-Profile-Slotblech verwenden möchten, lösen Sie die zwei Abstandshalter-
Schrauben links und rechts vom DB9-Anschluss mit Hilfe eines Schraubenschlüssels oder einer
Zange und entnehmen Sie das PCI-Slotblech. Schrauben Sie danach das Low-Profile-Slotblech
an die PCI-Karte.

Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
2.
Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech und stecken Sie die RS232-Karte in einen freien PCI-Steckplatz. Schrauben Sie
die Karte fest. Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Steckkarte richtig im Steckplatz sitzt.
3.
Verschließen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers.
4.
Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
5.
Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie Ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie sämtliche
Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.

Treiberinstallation
Legen Sie die Treiber-CD ein und folgen Sie den Anweisungen. Nehmen Sie bei weiteren Fragen die
beiliegende Hersteller-Anleitung zur Hilfe.
7.
Frequenz einstellen
Windows 2000 + XP + Vista
1.
Um sich Informationen über die angeschlossenen Geräte anzeigen zu lassen, klicken Sie mit der rechten
Maustaste auf „PCI Communications Port (COM3)" (System-Eigenschaften → Geräte-Manager) und
wählen Sie den Punkt „Properties" (Eigenschaften) aus dem Menü.
2.
Wählen Sie den Reiter „Data Rate". Setzen Sie „Crystal Frequency" auf den Wert 14.7456 MHz oder wählen
Sie „Detect Crystal Frequency", um den Wert für „Input Clock" automatisch einstellen zu lassen.
3.
Markieren Sie aus im Feld „Baud rate configuration options" den Kasten „Use default baud rate".
4.
Wiederholen Sie die Schritte 1 bis 3 für die Einstellung von „COM4".
Windows 98 + ME
1.
Um sich Informationen über die angeschlossenen Geräte anzeigen zu lassen, klicken Sie mit der rechten

8.
Entsorgung
Im Interesse unserer Umwelt und um die verwendeten Rohstoffe möglichst vollständig zu
recyclen, ist der Verbraucher aufgefordert, gebrauchte und defekte Geräte zu den öffentlichen
Sammelstellen für Elektroschrott zu bringen.
Das Zeichen der durchgestrichenen Mülltonne mit Rädern bedeutet, dass dieses Produkt an einer
Sammelstelle für Elektronikschrott abgegeben werden muss.

Intended use
The product is suitable for installation in a PCI slot of a computer enclosure and provides an RS232 DB9
port and a 10-pole RS232 RJ45 port there. With the 10-pole RJ45-DB9M adapter cable that is included, you
can use a second DB9M port instead of the RJ45 port. With the low-profile slot plate, you can also install the
product in enclosures suitable for it. The product offers two high-performance UART channels of the 16C950
specification with 128-byte FIFO and is backward compatible with 16C550, 16C650, 16C750 and 16C850.
The product is compatible with the PCI specification, the 3.0 revision and the PCI 1.1 power management
specification.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly

Installation
When in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an EXPERT or a
specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation.
In case of improper installation, the product as well as your computer and all connected
devices will be damaged.
Lethal Danger!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed and all connected devices
and separate all devices from the mains voltage. Unplug the mains plug! To switch the
device off via the ON/OFF switch is not enough!
If you would like to use the low-profile slot plate, unscrew the two spacer screws to the left and
right of the DB9 connection with the aid of a screw wrench or pliers and remove the PCI slot plate.
Then screw the low-profile slot plate onto the PCI card.
1.
Open the housing of your computer and carefully take off the lid of the housing.
2.
Remove a slot plate and insert the RS232 card in a free PCI slot. Screw the card firmly in place. Check
whether the plug-in card sits properly in the slot.
3.
Close the computer case.
4.
Connect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage und switch on all devices.
5.
If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all settings and cable
connections.

Insert the driver CD and follow the instructions. In case of further questions, use the accompanying
manufacturer's instructions.

Setting the frequency

In order to have information about the connected devices displayed, click with the right mouse button on
"PCI communications port (COM3)" (System Properties → Device Manager) and choose "Properties" from
the menu.
2.
Choose the tab "Data rate." Set "Crystal frequency" to the value 14,7456 MHz or choose "Detect crystal
frequency" to have the value for "Input clock" set automatically.
3.
In the "Baud rate configuration options" field, check the "Use default baud rate" box.
4.
Repeat steps 1 through 3 for setting "COM4."
Windows 98 + ME
1.
In order to have information about the connected devices displayed, click with the right mouse button on
