the public supply.
The product should only be used in dry indoor areas, it must not be exposed
to damp or wet. There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!

become a dangerous plaything for children.
Handle the product carefully, it can be damaged by impacts, blows or by falling
from a low height.
Connection
• Screw the three WLAN antennas supplied on to the corresponding Mini-BNC connection
on the router. Do not use force when screwing into place.
Never operate the router without the WLAN antennas!
• Using the slide switch on the back of the device, select router (switch in „ROUTER" posi-
tion) or access point („AP" position).
• Connect the „WAN" port with a 1:1 network cable to your DSL modem (with RJ45 net-
work output); the DSL modem should be connected to the splitter.
• Four RJ45 network ports (10/100MBit) are available on the router, one computer can be
connected to each one. Connect one of the network ports with a 1:1 network cable to the
connector on the network interface card. Use an additional network switch, if more than
4 computers are to be connected.
• Connect the router to the mains. using the plug-in transformer (230V~/50Hz) supplied.
The router starts running a self test. Wait until the self test is completed (ca. 1 minute).
• Now you can switch on your PC or PC's, wait until the operating system has finished
loading. This ensures that the router is ready for use and assigns an IP address to each
computer, see the next section.

Computer Configuration
As delivered, the DHCP server is activated in the router. The operating system must be set
up so that an IP address is automatically assigned to the network interface card during start
up. In Windows XP and Windows Vista this function is the default setting.
If a fixed IP address was assigned to your computer/operating system's network card, you
have to change this in the Windows system control, since otherwise communication with
the router is not possible.
Further, it is important that there is only one DHCP server in the network. If you operate
this router and a network hard disk, for example, only one DHCP server can be switched
on (we always recommend that the router's DHCP server is switched on and that all other
available DHCP servers are switched off).
The router assigns IP addresses in the range of 192.168.1.x where x=2-254 (the address
192.168.1.1 is reserved for the router).
Please note: If operated as an access point, the IP address 192.168.1.250 will
be used!
To setup the router, you should use a computer that is connected to the router by a net-
work cable (not a computer with WLAN).
Router Setting, example for Windows XP/Vista
You will find a comprehensive manual in PDF format on the enclosed CD. To
view the PDF files, you need Adobe Reader, which is available free of charge
from www.adobe.com.
Start your web browser, e.g. Internet Explorer (the following description uses Internet
Explorer). Break off the search for the pre-set website.
Enter the address line: http://192.168.1.1
After hitting the enter/return button, the user name and password will be requested. Enter
„admin" as the user name and „password" as the password. Then click on „OK".
The router's web interface for configuration now the appears.
In the case an error message or similar appears, check the settings for your
antivirus or firewall software. Temporarily disable such software, to prevent
them from blocking access to the router.
Check that the IP address is assigned automatically when the attributes for the
network connections are set. Only then can the router assign an appropriate
IP address to the computer.
Check the position of the „AP/Router" switch on the back, switch to the
„Router" position, if you wish to use the product as a router for connection to
the Internet.
There can be many reasons why the router's web interface does not appear;
if necessary we recommend that you ask a professional to help with the con-
figuration.
Entering your Provider's Access Data
Depending on which provider you use, the configuration of the router is different.
In the most simple case, the access type „PPPoE" has to be set, and a user name and
password, which you get from the provider, must be entered. After saving this data and
restarting the router, Internet access via the network cable should be possible.
Resetting the Router
Hold the „RESET" button on the router pressed down for more than 20 seconds and then
release it again.
The router performs a restart; wait at least 1 minute. After this, the router is reset to the fac-
tory settings (IP 192.168.1.1, DHCP switched on, user name „admin" and password „pass-
word").
