1. Intended use
This product allows the quick connection of an 8.9 cm (3.5") and/or a 6.4 cm (2.5") SATA hard disk to a
computer (via USB 3.0), without having to mount the hard disk in an enclosure. Power is supplied to the product
through the power supply unit included in delivery.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be
avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them.
Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

3. Safety instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
Persons / Product
• Do not move the product when the hard drive is in operation. Turn it off and wait a minimum of 30 seconds.
• Grasp the hard disk laterally in the housing, do not touch the plate with the electronics. Electrostatic
discharge can destroy the hard disk.
• The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
• As power supply, only use the supplied mains adaptor.
• Only connect the power adaptor to a normal mains socket connected to the public supply. Before plugging
in the power adaptor, check whether the voltage stated on the power adaptor complies with the voltage of
your electricity supplier.
• Never connect or disconnect power adaptors if your hands are wet.
• Never unplug the power adaptor from the mains socket by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on
the plug.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is not pinched, kinked or damaged by sharp edges.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This poses a risk of injury.
• For safety reasons, disconnect the power adaptor from the mains socket during storms.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous playing material
for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture,
flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any
accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
Miscellaneous
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical

5. operation
1. Place the product on a clean, dry and non-slip surface. The rubber feet (4) contribute to making it stable.
2. Switch the on/off switch ON• (12) into the off position (the half of the switch featuring the dot "•" has to face
upwards).
3. Connect the power cable's connection plug to the power socket DC 12V (11) on the back of the product. Plug
the mains plug of the cable into a suitable mains socket.
4. Plug the USB 3.0 cable's USB B plug (13) to the USB port USB 3.0 (10) on the back of the product.
5. Connect the USB 3.0 cable's USB A plug (14) to a free USB port on your PC.
Inserting the hard disk and establishing a connection
Before use, format and partition the hard disks.
Hard disks of the following dimensions are supported:
8.9 cm (3.5")(26 mm deep) and 6.4 cm (2.5")(9 mm deep) SATA hard disks. Safe operation cannot
be guaranteed for other sizes.
1. Open the dust protection flaps of one of the two slots HDD1 (1) or HDD2 (2) to determine the direction to
the SATA plug inside. Hold the hard disk to be used on the side of its enclosure and align it accordingly.
2. Carefully push the SATA hard disk into slot HDD1 or HDD2, as far as it will go. The dust protection flaps
will open automatically.
3. Ensure the hard disk sits tightly on the SATA plug inside the product.
4. If you want to use a second hard disk simultaneously, put it into the second available slot.
5. Switch the on/off switch ON• into the ON• position. The control LEDs Link (5), Power (6) and HDD1 (7)
and/or HDD2 (8) light up blue. If the hard disk was properly formatted and partitioned previously, it will
appear as a drive on your PC, ready for operation.
6. Start the data transfer. When the hard disk is accessed, the control LEDs HDD1 (7) and/or HDD2 (8) flash
in blue. Also note the table "LED control indicators explained".
If the hard disk is not recognised, the hard disk may not have been properly formatted and
partitioned. Observe the hard disk manufacturer's and the OS manufacturer's instructions for
correct formatting and partitioning. For this, also see the section "Tips and notes".
Disconnecting and removing hard disk
1. Disconnect the USB connection by ejecting the drive just like any other USB device.
2. Turn the product off using the on/off switch ON•.
3. Wait for a minimum of 30 seconds until the hard disk comes to a complete standstill.
4. Press the eject button (3) of the slot used to eject the inserted hard disk. Hold the hard disk on the sides
of its enclosure and carefully remove it.
If no hard disk is inserted in any of the two slots and the product is turned on, then the control
LED Power lights up red.
Depending on hardware configuration, the product will switch to standby mode when you switch
your computer into sleep mode. The control LED Power lights up red.
