Select METAL-Scan or AC-Scan with the Mode button (6). The mode
indicators (3) will show the presently set mode. For safety reasons,
the AC voltage warning is always active. The „Voltage (AC) found"
LED (4) lights up if a live line is located within the measuring range.

– Select METAL-SCAN (button 6).
– LED CAL (3) flashes: Press the CAL button (7) and wait until cali-
bration is completed. Hold the tool in the air so that it is pointing
away from any metal objects. Setting the mode allows the device
to achieve its maximum sensitivity. Refer also to Tip 1 about this.
– CAL-LED (3) illuminates continuously: Now a measurement can
be performed. The device is now able to detect metals (such as
reinforcing steel, heating pipes and water lines) that are concealed
under plaster, wood panels and other non-metallic cladding.
– Place the device against the wall.
– Move the device slowly across the surface.
– Because of its high sensitivity, the device can normally detect
objects in a broad radius beneath the relevant surface. If you want
to determine the actual centre of the hidden object, you must
move the device from both left and right towards the object. The
position between the two markings is the midpoint of the metal
object.
Tip 1: Sensitivity can be adjusted in order to locate an object more
precisely. Calibration to the surface is done by pressing the CAL
button (7) when the maximum indicator illuminates as the object is
approached. Then move the device further toward the object. Repeat
this procedure until the object is adequately localised.
Tip 2: The maximum indicator does not illuminate even though the
LED display reacts. When the strongest indication has been reached,
the device is in the vicinity of the metal object. Make a mark at this
location.
