Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt kann an einen USB-Port eines Computers angeschlossen werden und dient dort zum Lesen
und Beschreiben von Speicherkarten in vielen verschiedenen Formaten, z.B. CompactFlash, Smartmedia,
SD/MMC und Memorystick/Memorystick Pro.

Anschluss
Schalten Sie den Computer ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem vollständig geladen ist.
Verbinden Sie den USB-Kartenleser über das mitgelieferte USB-Kabel mit einem freien USB2.0-Port Ihres
Computers. Die Treiber sind bereits in Windows enthalten (mindestens Windows ME bzw. XP erforderlich).
Einstecken/Entnehmen von Speicherkarten
Stecken Sie die Speicherkarte korrekt in den zugehörigen Einschub des USB-Kartenlesers; nur eine
Orientierung ist richtig. Wenden Sie beim Einstecken keine Gewalt an!
Wenn Lese-/Schreibzugriffe auf die Speicherkarte erfolgen, so warten Sie, bis diese abgeschlossen sind.
Ziehen Sie erst danach die Speicherkarte heraus. Wird die Speicherkarte während einem Lese-/Schreib-
zugriff herausgezogen, so können die Daten auf der Speicherkarte beschädigt werden, möglicherweise ist
danach sogar eine neue Formatierung der Speicherkarte erforderlich.
An- und Abstecken des Kartenlesers
Entnehmen Sie vor einem An- bzw. Abstecken des Kartenlesers bzw. dem Ausschalten des Computers die
evtl. eingesetzten Speicherkarten; ansonsten können Daten auf den Speicherkarten bzw. die Speicherkarte
selbst beschädigt werden.
Auslesen/Beschreiben von Speicherkarten
Jeder der Einschübe wird wie ein herkömmliches Wechseldatenträger-Laufwerk eingebunden. Zusätzliche
Laufwerksbuchstaben werden von Windows automatisch vergeben.
Im Datei-Explorer können Sie nun die Daten auf der Speicherkarte auslesen (oder Daten auf die
Speicherkarte ablegen), genauso wie von Festplatte oder Diskettenlaufwerk gewohnt.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Bei manchen Speicherkarten (z.B. CompactFlash-Festplatte) ist ein High-Power-USB-Port erforderlich;
dies ist ein USB-Port, der einen Strom von 500mA liefern kann (z.B. der USB-Port des Mainboards oder
eines USB-Hubs mit eigenem Netzteil). Ein USB-Hub ohne eigenes Netzteil ist dafür nicht geeignet.
• Beim Löschen oder Beschreiben von Speicherkarten im SD- oder Memorystick-Format ist darauf zu
achten, dass der Schreibschutz ausgeschaltet ist.
• Bei Verwendung eines USB2.0-Ports Ihres Computers sind je nach verwendeter Speicherkarte höhere
Lese- und Schreibgeschwindigkeiten als bei USB1.1 möglich. Speziell bei großen Speicherkarten bringt
dies eine enorme Zeitersparnis. Abhängig von der Speicherkarte sind mehrere MBytes/s beim Lese-
bzw. Schreibzugriff möglich.
Entsorgung

Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den geltenden gesetzli-
chen Bestimmungen.

Prescribed Use
The product can be connected to a USB port of a computer and is designed to read and write memory cards
in many different formats, eg CompactFlash, Smartmedia, SD/MMC and Memorystick/Memorystick Pro.

Connection
Switch your computer on and wait until the operating system is completely booted.
Connect the USB card reader via the USB cable included in delivery with a free USB 2.0 port of your
computer. The drivers are already included in Windows (minimum requirement Windows ME or XP).
Inserting/removing memory cards
Insert the memory card correctly into the corresponding slot of the USB card reader; there is only one correct
orientation. Do not use any force when you are inserting it!
If there are any read/write accesses on the memory card, wait until they are finished. Only then remove the
memory card. If the memory card is pulled out during a read/write access, the data on the memory card may
get damaged, and it may even be necessary to reformat the memory card.
Plugging in and Unplugging the Card Reader
Remove the memory cards that may be inserted before plugging in or unplugging the card reader or before
you switch off the computer; otherwise the data on the memory cards or the memory card itself may get
damaged.
Reading/Writing of Memory Cards
Each slot is integrated just like a conventional removable media drive. Windows automatically allocates
additional drive letters.
You can now read the data of the memory card (or store data on the memory card) in the file explorer, as
you are used to from hard disks or floppy drives.
Tips & Notes
• For some memory cards (eg CompactFlash hard disk) a high power USB port is necessary; this is a USB
port, that can provide a power of 500mA (eg the USB port of the mainboard or of a USB hub with its own
plug-in power supply). A USB hub without its own plug-in power supply is not suitable for it.
• When deleting or writing on memory cards in SD or memorystick format you have to make sure that the
write protection is off.
• When using a USB2.0 port of your computer, higher reading and writing speeds then with USB1.1 are
possible, depending on the memory card used. Especially for larger memory cards this can be an
enormous time saving. Depending on the memory card, several MBytes/s are possible for read/write
accesses.
