Version 05/06
vibration, dust, heat, cold, and moisture.
Place the travel alarm clock on a stable surface and ensure that it is stand-
°
ing safely. If the travel alarm clock falls down, it might injure persons or
the clock or the floor may be damaged. Place the device on a level and hor-
izontal surface. Do not place the device on valuable furniture without suit-
able protection.
Open the cover of the travel alarm clock and use the cover as a base stand.
Inserting and replacing the batteries
Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries (pay atten-
tion to plus + and minus –).
Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying
around. Pets or small children might swallow them. Mortal danger! If swal-
lowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Batteries may not be shorted, opened or thrown into fire. Batteries must
not be recharged. (Danger of explosion!)
Only use new batteries of the correct size and the recommended type. Do not
mix old and new batteries. Chemical liquids may leak out of overaged or
spent batteries and damage the device. For this reason, remove the batter-
ies when you do not use the device for a longer period (a month or more).
Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin.
Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
Remove the cover of the battery compartment.
Insert three micro batteries (AAA) with correct polarity. The correct polarity (positive and
negative) is indicated in the battery compartment. Close the battery compartment by put-
ting on the battery compartment cover and sliding it upwards until it snaps into place.
Use high-quality alkaline batteries to achieve as long a period of operation as
possible. The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended, as their lower
voltage and capacity reduces the service life.
The display appears after insertion of the batteries.
A change of the batteries becomes necessary when the battery indicator
appears in the display or when the display lighting fades or loses brightness.
Remove the old batteries and wait about 5 minutes before inserting the new bat-
teries as described before.
Initial operation
Before the first use, remove the protective foil for protection during transit from the dis-
play.
Setting city
Above and below the rotary switch (1) there are two arrow
marks. With the rotary switch (1) you can select different
world cities, whose respective time is indicated in the lower
right of the „WORLD" display. This time is called world time
in these instructions.
The city between the two arrow marks determines the indi-
cation in the „WORLD" display.
The city closest to your home location and which is in the
same time zone as your place of residence is designated
„home city".
The time of the home city is shown in the top left of the dis-
play. This time is called local time in these instructions.
Setting the date
• Turn the rotary switch (1) to your desired home city or a city in the same time zone as
your home city. For cities in Germany select the setting „Paris" (same time zone as
Berlin).
• Slide the set switch (4) to position „CAL". The year indicator will flash in the display.
• The set buttons for the year, month and date are on the back in the battery box. Adjust
the current date with these buttons.
• You can set the year with the YEAR/12/24 (7) button.
• Using the button MONTH/HR (5) you can now set the month.
• Using the button DATE/MIN (6) you can now set the date.
Holding the button down accelerates the setting (quick setting).
Adjusting the day of the week is not necessary, as it is determined automatically.
