Ceiling motion detector 360°
with relay
Order No. 61 17 00
Intended Use
This 360° ceiling motion detector is intended for detecting motion in a radius of 12 meters (Ø = 24 meters) at
an installed height of 3 meters. Light bulbs up to max. 1000 Watt, Halogen bulbs up to max. 1000 Watt and
fluorescent lights up to max. 500 Watt can be connected.
The motion detector has rotary controllers for adjusting the activation duration (approx. 10 seconds to
20 minutes), the brightness threshold (approx. 2 to 1000 LUX) and the detection range (approx. 2 to 12 meters).
The ceiling motion detector is suitable for installation on ceilings (e.g. in a hollow wall/flush mounted fitting
Ø68 mm) in dry indoor locations.
It is powered via 230 V/AC 50 Hz.
Any use other than that described above may damage the product and may involve other risks, such as short-
circuits, fire and electric shock. No part of the product may be changed or modified. The safety instructions
and technical data must be observed without fail! This product complies with the applicable National and
European requirements. All names of companies and products are the trademarks of the respective owner.

Explanation of the Symbols
A lightning-bolt symbol in a triangle indicates a health hazard, e.g. danger of electric shock.
The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during handling, operation and con-
trol.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions. We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by improper
handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty will be null and void
in such cases.
• The ceiling motion detector is suitable for installing in ceilings dry indoor locations.
• The connection and installation should only be carried out by an electrician.
• When the motion detector is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g. during transport),
condensation may be formed. This might cause a lethal electric shock! Therefore, allow the
components to reach room temperature before installing and operating them.
• Any unauthorised conversion and/or modification is not permitted because of safety and appro-
val reasons (CE).
• Do not bend the connecting cables, or place any heavy objects on them.
• Ensure that all the electrical connections and connection cables between the different devices
and any extension cables comply with the regulations and comply with the operating
instructions.
• Live components may be exposed, if the covers are opened or parts removed (unless this can
be done without tools). Further, the connection points may be live. If the appliance needs to be
opened for calibration, servicing, repair or to replace parts or circuit boards, it must be dis-
connected first from all sources of current . If servicing or internal repairs are necessary, this
must be carried out by a specialist who is familiar with the risks involved and with the relevant
regulations.
• It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any longer and
- the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• Please contact an expert, if it is no longer safe to use the unit or you have doubts about the
function of the product. Never try to repair the product or replace damaged cables yourself.
• Keep electrical devices out of the reach of children. Take particular care when children are
around, as they may try to stick objects into the unit through the openings in the housing. There
is danger of a life-threatening electric shock.
• The motion detector is powered via 230 V/AC 50 Hz.
• Never install the motion detector close to combustible or easily flammable materials, e.g.
curtains.
• Never expose the motion detector to extremely high or extremely low temperatures, humidity or
vibrations.
• Strong mechanical tensile or compressive forces can damage the motion detector.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for chil-
dren.
• Consider the current legal framework before you install the motion detector.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are to be observed.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops the operation of the product is
to be supervised by trained employees.
Installation and Connection

Information about the detection range and installation height:
The ceiling motion detector enables a motion detectionradius up
to a maximum of 12 meters at an installation height of 3 meters.
This results in a detection diameter of 24 meters at an installation
height of 3 meters.
Explanation of the connections:
When making the connection, ensure that the voltage source for the motion detector is not live.
Connection N
The neutral wire for the voltage supply (230 V/AC 50 Hz), as well
as the neutral wire of the load, are connected to the two terminals
„N".
Connection L
Connect the phase of the 230 V/AC 50 Hz voltage supply to the
„L" terminal.
Connection L'
Connect the phase of the load to the connection terminal L'.
Remove the cover on the reverse side (clipped on) and take the
electronic unit out to access the screws for the connection terminal.
Installation :
Proceed as follows, to ensure the correct installation:
• Pull out the front part, containing the diffuser lens, from the rear
section of the casing, housing the installation plate and con-
necting terminal.
• The rear part of the casing, housing the installation plate and
connecting terminal. is suitable for installing in a hollow wall
socket (e.g. Order No: 624926; Hollow wall socket depth
Ø68 mm).
• Install the motion detector in a flush-mounted fitting and replace the front part of the casing holding the
diffuser lens.
Setting the detection range
The delivery includes a sticker, with the help of which the diffuser lens of the motion detector can be limited.
In this way, the detection range can be restricted.
Setting the operating mode
The motion detector has different operating modes. These can
be set using the dip-fix slide switch. The individual modes are
explained below:
TEST mode:
Set slide switch „SW1" to the AUTO position and slide switch
„SW2" to the TEST position.
The test mode is used to execute a function test. The connected
load is activated for approx. 3 to 6 seconds, as soon as a motion
is detected.
When selecting the position for installing the motion detector, please note that it must not be sub-
jected to direct sunlight, vibrations, moisture and dampness, dust, heat or cold. This may lead to
faulty activation, failure or functional impairment.
The connection and installation should only be carried out by an electrician.
The product is only intended for use in dry indoor locations. Make sure that the connections of
motion detector are voltage free during installation.
When drilling, make sure you do not accidentally damage any power lines, gas pipes or water
pipes. Danger to life!
Do not place devices with strong magnetic or electric fields, such as mobile phones, electric
motors, etc. in the immediate vicinity.
The motion detector is ideal for installation in a ceiling (e.g. in a hollow wall socket/flush mounted
fitting).
To ensure the optimum motion detection, the motion detector must be placed so that the object
to be detected does not approach the motion detector directly but passes from left to right or vice
versa.
Only 230V/AC 50 Hz loads may be connected.
When connecting inductive loads, please connect the RC element, enclosed in the delivery, in
parallel with the load.
