POWER SUPPLY:
You can connect the external hard disk to a USB 2.0 port. With some notebooks, it may be necessary to use a USB hub with a mains plug.
COMMISSIONING (simple plug & play installation): 1) Start your computer and wait until the system is completely loaded. 2) Connect the
enclosed data cable to the USB port of your external hard disk. 3) Connect the other end of the cable to the USB 2.0 slot on your computer.
4) As soon as the hard disk is connected and ready for operation, the LED indicator turns green.
When you access the hard disk (read or write operation), the green LED lights up.
DISCONNECTING THE HARD DISK FROM THE SYSTEM:
Windows (not required for Windows XP and Vista): 1) Double-click on the icon in the task bar („Safely removing hardware"). 2) In the
window mark „USB mass storage device" and click on „Terminate". 3) Click on OK and wait until the confirmation message appears.
4) Disconnect the cable from the external hard disk.
Macintosh: 1) Locate the icon for the external hard disk on your desktop. 2) Drag the icon to the recycle bin ic 3) As soon as the icon is no
longer displayed, you can remove the cable from the external hard disk.
DATA BACKUP: When moving or copying data, make sure that the procedure is terminated correctly. Always backup your data! Before
sending the product to customer service, please delete all personal and confidential information. Claims for damage due to data loss and
consequential damage are excluded.

CE CONFORMITY: This product bears the CE label in accordance with the specifications of the European guideline on electromagnetic
conformity 2004/108/EG. Please use the enclosed USB cable to observe the admissible EMV limits and only connect devices marked with
the CE label. This product serves for data storage in the „domestic, business and small trade sector". If the use of the product deviates from
the stated working conditions, claims for possible damage are excluded. BESTMEDIA CD-Recordable GmbH & Co. KG, Industriestraße 48,
D-49451 Holdorf, Germany, is responsible for the CE label.
LIABILITY EXCLUSION: Carefully read and observe the operating instructions. Otherwise the product may not work properly. BESTME-
DIA will assume no liability for possible data loss or damage. BESTMEDIA, its partners and suppliers will not assume any warranty for the
continuous and error-free operation of the product. In no case will BESTMEDIA assume liability for damage caused to the operator or third
parties whose costs exceed the purchase price of this product. This restriction applies to damage of any kind, including destruction, damage
or loss of records, programs and data. The same applies to all direct and indirect damage, loss of profits, loss of savings and other special,
direct damage or consecutive damage. This also applies for liability obligations, independent of whether these are the result of unauthori-
sed handling, use or improper utilization of the product and/or the operating instructions. This restriction also applies if BESTMEDIA or an
authorised representative, authorised service center or a retailer were informed about the possibility of such a damage or claim.
PROBLEMATIC APPLICATIONS: This product is not intended for „problematic applications". These include medical applications, life-su-
staining systems, connections to medical implants, commercial transport equipment and nuclear reactors, as well as other applications and
systems in which the failure of the product may result in injury, death or substantial material damage. BESTMEDIA excludes any liability for
the use of this product in problematic applications. If you use this product in a problematic application, you will assume full responsibility
for all consequences. BESTMEDIA also retains the right to refuse servicing of the product utilised in a problematic application. In addition,
BESTMEDIA expressively excludes any liability for maintenance or the refusal to service such a product

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:To ensure safe and reliable use of your new hard disk, please read the safety instructions and these operating
instructions carefully prior to connecting the device. When passing the device on to a third party, also pass on these operating instructions.
Only persons familiar with retrofitting and/or converting a PC may exchange the hard disk. If you do not have the necessary qualifications,
please contact a qualified technician.
Hard disks are extremely sensitive to blows. Never drop the hard disk or subject it to blows or shocks as this will permanently destroy the
hard disk and the data it contains. Keep this in mind especially when transporting the hard disk. We will not assume any warranty for such
damage. Observe the instruction manual of your PC.
Do not insert any objects through the openings in the hard disk. This may lead to short circuits or even fire!
Never open the casing of the hard disk. This would lead to the loss of the warranty and result in the destruction of the hard disk.
Do not let children play unsupervised with electric devices as they are not capable of estimating the associated risks in all cases.
The hard disk is not designed for operation in heavy industry companies.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS: Dear customer, our products are subjected to strict final quality controls. If this device does not function
properly, please contact the service department for your area (see below).
Please note: The warranty period is three years and starts with the day of purchase. Please keep the receipt as proof of purchase. The
warranty only coversmaterial or production errors, but not damage to fragile parts, e.g. on the housing.
During the warranty period, you can send defect hard drives free of charge to the service address indicated below. You will then receive a
new or repaired device free of charge. After expiration of the warranty period, you can also send the defect device to the address below for
repair. Repairs after the expiration of the warranty period are subject to charges.
Your legal rights are not restricted with this warranty.
In case of unauthorised or improper use, application of force and repairs not performed by our authorised service centers,the warranty
will be void.
