Adjusting the lens
The lens can be adjusted without stages.
"
": Normal, focusing approx. from 1 m (ideal for the observation of a larger surface)
"
": Macro, focusing approx. from 0.5m (ideal for the observation of an individual plant)
We recommend you to take a test photo at the later place of recording and to check it on the PC, in order to
see the image sharply and focused.
The camera should be placed, so that it lies between the sun and the object to be photographed - i.e. the sun
should lie "behind" the camera (or laterally). Otherwise, unintended reflections or overexposure may arise.
Setting the time interval
Switch off the camera first. To do this, press the on/off button (2) until the camera emits 3 beeps and the
"power" LED goes out.
With a rotary knob (9) in the battery compartment the desired photo time interval can be set and thus the time,
when the camera will take a photo. The rotary knob has numbers; they stand for the following time intervals:
1 = 1 minute
2 = 5 minutes
3 = 30 minutes
4 = 1 hour
5 = 4 hours
6 = 24 hours
7 = Manual setting (default factory settings are 5 seconds)
The manual setting (setting position of rotary knob: "7") can only be changed via the software
provided; here, a time interval of 5 seconds to 11 hours, 59 minutes can be selected.

Operation

Turning on, starting the recording
Press and hold the orange control button (2) on the front, until the green LED "power" lights up. Then release
the button.
The camera now emits two beeps. After a short waiting time of 5 seconds the first photo is taken, thereby the
green LED "power" flashes quickly. Now the LED goes out.
After passing the time interval preset via the rotary knob (9), the next photo is taken.
If the USB stick is full or the batteries are empty, the camera cannot be turned on.
If the battery voltage is too low for a normal operation, the red LED "batt. low" lights and the
camera emits six beeps and then switches off.
If the USB stick is full or not properly inserted, the blue LED "memory" lights up. Following that,
the camera emits six beeps and turns off.
During the normal operation the green LED "power" flashes briefly approx. every 15 seconds to indicate a
correct operation.
When taking a picture the green LED "power" flashes consecutively several times quickly and then goes out.
The blue LED "memory" lights up when the USB stick is about to be full. The red LED "batt. low" lights if the
batteries are about to be empty. If no image can be saved any longer or the battery voltage is too low, the
camera turns off automatically.
Please note:
Should the camera turn itself off during operation, it will show the reason for this via the orange
control button (2) when turning the camera on next time.
Blue LED = USB stick is full
Red LED = Batteries are low
If the USB stick is full, copy all data onto your computer and then delete the data from the USB
stick. If the batteries are low they must be replaced.
Switching off
Press and hold the orange control button (2) on the front, until the camera emits three beeps. The green LED
"power" goes out. Release the button again.
Setting the time
In order to display the time of the video recorded by the camera, the software supplied must be installed on
your computer.
To install the software
To operate the software a Windows operating system is required, minimum requirement is Windows XP.
Place the CD in the appropriate drive of your computer. If the setup program does not start automatically, start
the software "Setup GWC.exe" on the CD. In the installation window click on "No-Questions-Asked-
Installation". Follow the program's instructions.
After the installation the time and date can be set; furthermore, you can change the recording interval via the
rotary knob setting (rotary knob setting position "7"). To do this, start the program "GardenWatchCam Setup".
Insert the USB stick in the computer and enter the correct drive letter in the software, in order to be able to
save the file on the USB stick. Following that, insert the USB stick in the camera and start the camera. When
started, the camera reads out the time and date from this file, applies and saves them for the recording of the
video.
With the program "GardenWatchCam Player" you can playback the videos that the camera saves on the USB
stick.
Tips and guidelines
• Prior to inserting or removing the USB stick the camera must be switched off.
Proceed in the same way to change the time interval.
• We recommend the use of high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure lasting and safe use. Rechargeable
batteries have a lower output voltage; this leads to a shorter operating time for the camera; rechargeable
batteries are also more temperature sensitive.
Cleaning
Only clean the product with a soft, clean, dry and lint-free cloth. If it is very dirty, use a cloth slightly moistened
with tap water.
Clean the lens very carefully, otherwise you will leave scratch marks.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents as these can cause discolouration of the housing.
Do not point a water jet (e.g. from a garden hose or even a high pressure cleaner) at the camera. Never
immerse the camera in or under water!
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste!
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current statutory
requirements.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with the following
symbol, which points out that disposal in the domestic waste is prohibited. The symbols for
indicating dangerous heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (designation can
be found on battery/rechargeable battery under the trash icon on the bottom left).
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at your community's collection
point or any place where batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold!
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
