Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these
safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper
use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will be void in such
cases.
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the product are
not permitted.
• The device is manufactured according to protection class 1. As the voltage source only an approved
mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz) connected to the public power system may be used.
• All persons operating, installing, setting up, commissioning or servicing this effect projector must be
appropriately trained and qualified and they must follow these operating instructions.
• Never look directly into the light source when the device is in operation.. The intense light rays could
temporarily impair your eyesight. Moreover, they may trigger epileptic fits. This applies in particular to
epileptics.
• Never touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands. There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
• If the power cable is damaged, do not touch it. First, switch off the appropriate mains socket (e.g. via the
respective circuit-breaker) and then carefully pull the mains plug from the socket. If the device does not
work, take it to a specialist workshop! Never use the product if the power cable is damaged.
• When installing the device, make sure that the mains cable is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges.
• This product is not a toy, it is not suitable for children. Children cannot judge the dangers involved when
handling electrical devices.
• Never place vessels or containers containing liquids, such as glasses, buckets, vases or plants, on the
device or in the direct vicinity of the system. Liquids may seep into the casing and thus impair the elec-
trical safety of the device. Furthermore, there is a significant risk of fire or of a lethal electric shock! If
this is the case, de-energise the appropriate socket (e.g. switch off circuit breaker) before removing the
plug-in mains unit from the socket. Afterwards, the product can no longer be used; take it to a special-
ist workshop.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or sprayed water, strong vibrations or heavy
mechanical stress.
• Do not place naked flames, such as burning candles, on or close to the device.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it, consult a
trained technician.
• Do not operate the device when it is unattended.
• Only use the device in a temperate climate, never in a tropical climate.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employerês Liability Insurance
Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are to be observed.
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise that are not answered
in these operating instructions, please contact our technical advisory service or another specialist.

Installation

Version 08/10
°
• Secure the mounting plate to the ceiling, wall or a suitable crossbeam. When installing it, make sure that
the device cannot swing freely .
• Secure the device with fastenings that are compatible with the fastening surface and suitable for carrying
the weight of the light effect device.
• Secure the installation with an additional suitable safety restraint cable or net. The safety restraint cable
or net must be able of supporting the light effect device in the event of a fault in the main support system.
• Set the desired angle of inclination and then tighten the bracket locking screws.
Connecting a DMX controller
• Connect the port DMX IN to the output of the DMX controller.
• Use a screened XLR cable. The controller must have at least 4 free control channels.
• Connect DMX OUT to the DMX input DMX IN on the following device. If the light effect is the last or only
device in the DMX chain, insert a plug with a 120 Ohm/0.25 W terminator here (between Pin2 and Pin3).
Operating Modes
Selecting the operating mode
The effect projector can be controlled via a integrated sound-to-light-control, via the integrated controller,
via an external DMX-controller or manually.
The operating mode is set using the four buttons below the display at the back of the housing.
• Press the FUNC button, until the display starts flashing and select the desired function using the buttons
UP or DOWN.
• Confirm your selection by pressing ENT.
• The following operating modes are available:

The assembly and the installation of the device must be carried out by a specialist who
is familiar with the hazards and the relevant regulations. Repairs, operation and main-
tenance of the product may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
When selecting the location for installing your device, take care not to expose it to
shocks, vibrations, dust, heat, cold or damp. Furthermore, keep the product away from
strong transformers or motors.
The light effect may only be operated in locations where the ambient temperature is
less than 45°C.
The device must be mounted out of normal reach.
Illuminated objects must be at least 0.1m away from the device's light outlet. Easily-
flammable materials, such as decorative fabrics must be at least 0.5m from the device.
Otherwise, such objects may catch fire!
When installing the product, make sure that the mains cable is not pinched or dam-
aged by sharp edges.
During installation and servicing, the area below the installation site must be cor-
doned off.
The installation surface, or mounting fixture, must be designed so that it can with-
stand10 times the loading capacity for at least 1 hour without permanent damaging
deformation.
It is also essential that the device is secured by means of a second safety restraint,
which is independent of the proper mounting supports, when it is installed in an ele-
vated position. If the main supports fail, no part of the installation should be able of
falling down.
During installation, all the relevant regulations (in particular BGV C1, in previously
VGB 70 and EN 60598-2-17) must be observed.
Acceptance test (in the case of industrial/public use):
Before using for the first time and after any significant modifications, the installation (includ-
ing the electrical connections) must be checked by a specialist.
An annual check by a technical expert is required.
At least every four years, an acceptance inspection must be carried out by a technical expert.
Only connect the device to a DMX controller with DMX-512 protocol.
You can operate up to a maximum of 32 devices in a DMX chain, otherwise the con-
troller will overload.
The maximum overall length of the DMX chain should not exceed 500m.
The use of XLR microphone cables can cause disturbances to the DMX signal trans-
mission. In such case, please use special DMX high frequency cables.
Pin assignment for the DMX connection: Pin1 = earth/ Pin2 = (-) / Pin3 = (+)
Never connect the earth cable to the earth of the housing of the light effect because the
signal transmission can be disturbed by earth loops.
