Inserting/Replacing the Battery/Rechargeable Battery

• Open the battery compartment on the back of the case and insert a battery of type AA/
Mignon, paying attention to the correct polarity.
Version 04/12
• The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• After inserting the battery, the clock hands move to the reception position (12.00 noon,
04.00 am or 08.00 am), and the radio-controlled alarm clock starts to search for the DCF
signal (see chapter „DCF reception").
• Close the battery compartment again.
• The battery needs changing when the clock stops.
DCF Reception
Immediately after the battery is inserted, the device makes the fi rst attempt to receive the DCF
signal. The hands of the clock run to the receiver position and automatically set themselves to
the current time after successfully receiving the DCF signal.
Reception attempts for daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time are done several
times a day. One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the deviation to less than
one second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF
transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt). Its range is up
to 1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up
to 2,000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise
time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!)
and the date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually setting
summer and winter time.
To Make a DCF Reception Attempt
• To perform a manual search for the DCF-signal (e.g. if you have placed the radio-controlled
alarm clock in a different location), press the RESET key on the rear of the case, at the top
left of the battery compartment, using a sharp object.
• This will start a new reception attempt. Then, as described above, wait about 3-4 minutes
until the correct time is displayed.
Alarm function
a) Setting the alarm
• The alarm time is indicated on the clock face by a small clock hand.
• Turn the adjustment knob on the case's rear in the direction of the arrow, until the desired
alarm time is shown on the clock face.
b) Activating / deactivating the alarm function
• Move the sliding switch on the side of the case to the desired position:
ON (upper position)
OFF (lower position)
c) Stopping the alarm signal & snooze function
• At the set alarm time, the alarm signal sounds. This signal can be interrupted for approx.
5 minutes by pressing the big key on the top of the case. After this, the signal will restart
(snooze function).
• To switch the alarm function off entirely, move the sliding switch on the case's side to the OFF
position (lower position).
Rechargeable batteries can be used. The lower operating voltage (rechargeable
battery = 1.2 V, battery 1.5 V) and lower capacity, however, will reduce the operating
time.
The detection and interpretation of the DCF signal can take about 3-4 minutes. Do
not move the radio-controlled alarm clock during this time. Do not press any buttons
or switches!
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalized insulated glass, reinforced
concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or
installation in cellars.
If the clock hands do not move to the current time after 10 minutes, change the posi-
tion of the radio-controlled alarm clock and press the RESET button on the rear of
the case using a sharp object.
This will start a new reception attempt.
Only turn the adjustment knob in the direction of the arrow; otherwise, the alarm time
will not be displayed correctly.
Alarm function is activated
Alarm function is deactivated
