4. Safety guidelines
The warranty claim shall lapse in the event that dam-
ages resulting from a failure to observe the guidelines
occur! We shall not be held liable for any consequential
damage! We shall not be held liable in the event of any
material damage or personal injury resulting from incor-
rect handling of the device or from a failure to observe
the safety guidelines. The warranty claim shall expire in
cases such as these.

6. The transmitter – initial operation
1. In order to guarantee optimum transmission, place
the transmitter in a vertical position in the room which
you would like to monitor or attach it to the wall using
appropriate assembly materials.
2. You can either operate the transmitter using the en-
closed mains adaptor or with four round cells (batter-
ies/storage batteries). For battery operation, please
place four AA round cell batteries in the battery com-
partment as described in point "10. Changing the
battery". For mains operation, connect the mains
adapter to the transmitter socket (8).
3. The sliding switch (6) is used to both switch on
the device and to select one of the two transmis-
sion channels. In position 1, the device transfers to
channel 1, and in position two, it transfers to chan-
nel 2. The operating state is displayed by the flashing
LED (2).
4. As soon as the transmitter detects a noise, the
LED (3) lights up for the transmission's duration. We
recommend that you ensure that a distance of one
metre between transmitter and baby is maintained
for safety reasons and optimum noise transmission.
5. The front of the device should, if possible, point in the
direction of the person being monitored (e. g. your
baby). It is also important to ensure that the noises or
sound is not impeded by obstacles.
Additional original mains adapters can be pur-
chased via the enclosed order form.
6.1. Responsivity switch
The transmitter's microphone responsivity function is
activated using the switch (9) in the battery compart-
ment.
MIC LOW – low responsivity
MIC HI – high responsivity
Attention! The term responsivity refers to the transmit-
ter's response threshold. This should be individually ad-
justed to the local conditions as necessary.
7. The receiver – initial operation
1. Place the receiver in the room where you will be, or
attach it to the wall using the appropriate assembly
materials.
2. The receiver can be operated using the enclosed
mains adapter or with three micro cells (batteries/
storage batteries). For battery operation, please
place three AAA micro cell batteries in the battery
compartment as described in point "10. Changing
the battery". For mains operation, connect the mains
adapter to the receiver socket (16).
3. Use the channel selector switch (15) to select the
transmission channel (1 or 2). As a rule, transmitter
and receiver should be switched to the same channel
(1 or 2) for operation.
4. The device is switched on by turning up the volume
control (14). After the device has been switched on,
the LED (11) flashes, indicating the operating state.
You can adjust the volume as appropriate by continu-
ing to turn the volume control.

Additional original mains adapters can be pur-
chased via the enclosed order form.
7.1. Special feature
The receiver is equipped with an optical reception dis-
play (13) (light-emitting diode chain). As soon as a noise
has been transmitted, you will not only be able to hear
it, but also see it via the light-emitting diode chain. The
louder the noise received, the more diodes will flash.
8. Functional check
it is extremely important to check the baby monitor-
ing device before using it for the first time. To carry out
a functional check, place your transmitter in the desired
location and switch a radio (for example) on at low vol-
ume.
After this, adjust the transmitter to the desired respon-
sivity level using the responsivity switch (9). Finally, walk
through the house with your receiver and adjust it to the
correct volume.

9. Battery monitoring

When the battery/storage battery voltage falls too low (in
the event that the device is being battery operated), this
will be displayed on both transmitter and receiver.
If the operating voltage is insufficient, the colour of the
operating display changes from green to red on both
transmitter (2) and receiver (11).
Important: Storage batteries cannot be recharged in the
device itself!
10. Changing the battery
1. To insert/change the batteries/storage batteries,
open the transmitter's/receiver's battery compart-
ments by pressing down the locking mechanisms
and simultaneously sliding off the lid of the battery
compartment.
2. Now remove the empty batteries/storage batteries
from the device.
3. After this, place new batteries/storage batteries in
the appropriate cavities, ensuring that the polarity is
correct (+/-) – see instructions on the casing.
4. Now close the battery compartments by sliding the
lid of the battery compartment back onto the casing.
11. 40 MHz technology
The device operates within a 40 MHz frequency range,
which excludes interference from CB wireless operators.
12. Night light function
The transmitter is also equipped with an additional night
light function.
As babies often tend to cry in the dark, the transmitter
is equipped with an additional night light function which
has a smoothing effect on your baby.
You can switch the night light function on or off using the
switch (5) on the transmitter.
Choose from the following functions:
AUS – Night light function deactivated.
VOX – Night light switches on automatically as soon as
the microphone picks up a noise.
EIN – Night light function is constantly activated.
• In the VOX mode, the night light switches off approxi-
mately 5 seconds after the last noise it picked up.
• The night light function should only be used in con-
junction with the mains adaptor in order to conserve
the batteries/storage batteries.
13. Pilot references (only with MBF 3132)
The remote safety and fault-free nature of this baby
monitoring device is additionally improved with the aid of
an inaudible, proven pilot reference. This pilot reference
has the effect that the receiver only switches on in the
event that noises from the connecting transmitter, e. g.
the baby being monitored, are transferred.
In the unlikely event that you are disrupted by other sig-
nals from the 40 MHz frequency range during trans-
mission, you have the option to switch over to another
channel.
14. Range
The physical radio wave propagation conditions mean
that you will have to determine the range of your baby
monitoring device by trial and error. Under optimum con-
ditions, the range will extend to 400 m. However, the ac-
tual range significantly depends on the local conditions.
These include, for example, the position of the transmit-
ter, the type of building or the atmospheric conditions.
The range can also be limited in the event that you hold
the receiver in your hands and seal it.
15. Clips
Both transmitter and receiver can be attached to a belt
or the wall (with suitable materials) using the clips situ-
ated on the back of the two devices.
16. Handy hints in case of faults
• If the transmitter or receiver does not function, check
the electricity supply initially.
• If no transfer between transmitter and receiver takes
place, please check the transmission/reception chan-
nels on both devices (a connection is only possible if
they correlate).
• As MBF 3031/3132 operates on a wireless (radio) ba-
sis, you may be able to hear conversations on other
wavelengths, and, in turn, other listeners may be able
to receive the conversations or noises emitted by your
transmitter. However, MBF 3031/3132 uses transfer
frequencies which should ensure that interference of
this nature will not usually occur. If, however, the occa-
