sail care hints
1. After use in salt water, rinse or spray down with fresh water. At the very least at
the end of a vacation or trip.
2. When possible roll up the sail once it has dried. Never store a rolled up sail wet for
any extended periods of time.
3. To dry, release the tension from the sail, do not set to dry in direct sunlight and do
not dry letting it flutter in the wind.
4. Always roll the sail from top or bottom, keeping all battens in their sleeves, under
full tension!
5. Use only recommended mast components in order for your sail to attain optimum
shape and performance.
6. Do not wash sail with harsh detergents or chemicals. Water and a mild soap are
fine.
7. Repair tears and holes (especially in monofilm sails/areas) immediately to prevent
further expansion of the hole. If immediate repair is not possible (also with the
DUOTONE monofilm repair kit), at least close the tear with tape or stickers.
8. The sail´s durability is directly related to
a. frequence of use
b. sail care
c. UV-radiation (especially for monofilm sails).
In places with high UV-radiation store the sail in the shade. Otherwise de-rig it.
