Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR sensor integrated in the adapter plug responds to temperature changes within the
detection range, e.g. if a person or an animal, with a temperature different from the background,
enters the detection area.
To ensure optimum detection, the adapter plug must be placed so that the object to be detected
does not approach the PIR sensor directly but rather passes through the detection area from
left to right or vice versa.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The adapter plug's installation height
• Temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the adapter plug
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature
After plugging the adapter plug in to a mains socket, it takes about 60 seconds for the PIR
sensor in the adapter plug to adjust to the background temperature and is able to recognise
changes in temperature within the detection range.
<8 m
The horizontal detection range is about 100°. This range applies for an installation
height of 1.5 to 8 m. Depending on the ambient conditions, the actual range may be
shorter.
The socket on the front of the adapter plug must point downwards!
Getting Started, Use
Follow the safety instructions in these operating instructions!
• Plug the adapter plug into a standard earthed mains socket (wall socket).
The socket on the front of the adapter must point downwards, and the PIR sensor upwards.
Do not point the PIR sensor at radiators or objects with varying heat (e.g. electronic
equipment), as this could cause false alarms.
It is not possible to detect temperature changes through glass.
• Connect the consumer load to the socket on the adapter plug.
• At low ambient brightness (<5 lux), the consumer connected to the adapter is activated, when
the PIR sensor detects a temperature change in the detection range.
If the PIR sensor does not detect any temperature change for a period of 5 minutes, the
consumer connected to the adapter plug is switched off.
To check the function, connect a lamp, for example, to the adapter plug and enter
the monitored area (detection range) at night.

Maintenance and Cleaning

• The product does not require maintenance. The product contains no parts that require servic-
ing. Therefore, do not open/dismantle it. Maintenance or repairs may only be performed by
qualifi ed personnel or a specialised repair shop.
• Before cleaning, disconnect the product from the mains voltage and unplug the adapter plug
from the mains socket. Then disconnect the consumer from the adapter plug.
• Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Dust can easily be removed using a clean, soft, long-
bristled brush and a vacuum cleaner. While cleaning, do not press too hard on the diffuser
lens of the PIR sensor, as this could be damaged as a result.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions,
since these could damage the housing or even impair operation.
Disposal
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
