- a VOLUME switch for activating (green LED on) or bypassing the Rhythm
volume control [5]. Can be used to switch between a high Solo volume level
(green LED off!!!) and a lower Rhythm volume level.
[5] RHYTHM VOLUME: When activated (see FS-5 Footswitch), this control
functions as a master volume for lowering the overall volume.
NOTE: If the Footswitch is not connected, the Rhythm Volume is NOT active.
[6] EFFECTS LOOP: This loop can be activated or completely bypassed with
the FS-5 Footswitch. Bypassing is realised with a mechanical relays which
disconnects the entire FX Loop circuit and directly connects the output of the
preamp with the input of the power amp. The FX Loop circuit therefore can not
affect the amp's pure classic tube tone.
TO FX: This jack provides a buffered mono output from the preamp. It can be
used in conjunction with the FROM FX jack as a patch point for external effects
units. (see CONNECTION DIAGRAM page.)
FROM FX: This jack inputs external signals directly to the power amp and
automatically disconnects the preamp. It provides a (return) input for external
effects units.
NOTE: If the Footswitch is not connected, the Effects Loop circuit is bypassed
and therefore the Effects Loop is NOT active.
NOTE: The Effects Loop operates on a -10dBV signal level which guarantees
compatibility with both instrument-level effects like floor-pedals and guitar-
processors, as well as line-level effects lik e professional 19 inch rack mount
devices.
If connecting an effects unit to the Classictone causes hum, a ground-
loop may be the reason for it. This ground-loop may be eliminated by
isolating or disconnecting the effects unit's earth from the mains sockets
earth.
[7] SPEAKER OUTPUT JACKS: Provided for connection of speaker(s) or
speaker cabinet(s) with a minimum total impedance of 4, 8 or 16 ohms.
WARNING: Never play the CLASSICTONE without a speaker connected.
This may cause serious damage to either the power tubes and/or the
output transformer. Always use speaker cable.
[8] RECORDING OUTPUT ThIs jack provides a mono output from the power
amp and includes the Reverb signal. The signal is derived from the speaker
output and filtered by a special Speaker Simulating Filter which simulates the
sound coming from the speaker. Now the signal can be fed directly to a
recording or sound reinforcement mixer while the amp will sound as if it is
miked. (see CONNECTION DIAGRAM page.)
