General operation
The MiniPocket 8 has only the PMR Band, the LPD band is not available.
CTCSS code
The MiniPocket has altogether 38 pilot tones which work in the CTCSS standard. A private sub-audible tone
may be programmed and associated with every channel, to protect the radio from unwanted calls or interfer-
ence from other operators on the same channel. Squelch will open and incoming messages will be received
only from radios using the same CTCSS tone on that channel.
To change the CTCSS code proceed as follows:
1. Press the Menu button until the Sub code no. or oF is fl ashing on the display.
2. Use the Up-/Down button to select the Sub code no. (1 - 38).
3. Press the PTT button to confi rm or wait about 10 seconds, the changes will be stored auto-
matically.
Channel scan
Busy channels can be automatically scanned. To start the scan function proceed as follows:
1. Press the Scan/Lock button. The channel scanning starts immediately.
2. Press the Scan/Lock button again to stop scanning.
When the radio detects channel activity, it stops scanning and stays at that channel for 4 - 5 seconds. If you
press the PTT button you can talk on this channel but if the talking interrupt for more than 15 seconds the
scanning starts again.
Key lock
This function allows to lock the keypad, to avoid accidental unwanted commands. To enable/disable the key
lock function proceed as follows:
1. Press the Scan/Lock button for aprox. 5 sconds until the key icon appears/disappears on the
display.
If the key lock function is activated, only the PTT and Monior button can be
used. To disable the function proceed in the same way.
Key tone
The Key tone can be activated and deactivated. To set the Key tone off proceed as follows:
1. Press the Up-/Down button until the bP icon appears and on fl ashes on the display.
2. Use the Up-/Down button to select on.
3. Press the PTT button to confi rm or wait about 10 seconds, the changes will be stored auto-
matically.
To turn on the Key tone mode proceed as follows:
1. Press the Up-/Down button until the bP icon appears and oF fl ashes on the display.
2. Use the Up-/Down button to select on.
