Important: When coloured green within a carbonate hardness range of 4 – 8 °KH, the CO ² Permanent Test indicates the
optimum CO ² content of approx. 6 – 25 mg/l. Outside this hardness range the CO ² Permanent Test does not provide
accurate values. In principle, a carbon hardness of 4 – 8 °KH has proved to be the optimum value for multi-species aquaria. Please
note that your animals may have different requirements.
Installation of the CO ² -visual test:
Attention: Before use please prick the protective
film in the dropper with a neddle or another sharp
instrument.
1. Disassemble the CO ² -test.
2. Fill the bubble cap
with approx. 1 ml aquarium water

(see marking line) and add 2 drops of the indicator
reagent
.

3. Press the inner part of the reflector onto the bubble cap
. Please make sure that the O-ring is correctly fitted.

4. Turn over the bubble cap with the inner part (
care that no liquid runs out through the hole). Then fix it
into the lower plastic part of the CO ² test
5. Now the CO ² -visual test may be fixed to a side pane of
the aquarium with the suction cap. The lower part of the
test must be immersed in the aquarium water
6. The reflector cap can be rotated through by 360°, thus
allowing for individual adjustment
7. After approximately 10 minutes the CO ² -visual test
shows a colouring. Supplied with the test is a colour
scale. We recommend to apply this scale to the outside
pane of the aquarium, adjacent to the test. Reading of
the different colourings:
blue = insufficient CO ²
green = optimum level of CO ²
yellow = too much CO ²
Important note: With CO ² systems without night deactivation, the CO ² content in the aquarium is the highest immediately
after the lighting is switched on. To ensure that there are no harmful CO ² concentrations at this time, we recommend you
read the permanent test at this point.
Please note carefully: Keep this indicator fluid out of reach of children! This reagent keeps its quality for at least
18 months after its first use.
