CO ² Atomizer
(for CO ² Set 250) (item no. 80230)
Special features: Suitable for aquaria of up to approx. 250 l (200 l of actual water volume)
· easy to install
· integrated bubble gauge
· integrated check valve
· extremely fine bubbles through high quality atomiser disc (glass frit)
· inconspicuous
Start-up: Fill the integrated bubble gauge with water; to do this, cut off 3 – 4 cm CO ² hose, attach it to the
enclosed syringe in fill the syringe with cold mains water. Use the hose to attach the syringe to the CO ² connection
on the atomiser and fill the bottom chamber with water. The atomiser is now ready for operation. Fasten the
enclosed suction element to the atomiser. Connect the pressure reducer output to the CO ² input on the atomiser.
Install the atomiser on the inside aquarium glass panel. The further down the atomiser is attached in the aquarium,
the longer the bubbles will take to reach the surface. An the the better the CO ² is absorbed. Carefully open the needle valve of the
pressure reducer and observe the emerging bubbles in the bubble gauge integrated in the atomiser.
Initial setting: A bubble count of 10 % of the tank content per minute has proved beneficial as an initial setting. This means 10
bubbles per minute in a 100 l aquarium and 20 bubbles per minute for a 200 l aquarium. Please note that the glass frit requires a
certain initial pressure and that it releases a large quantity of CO ² into the aquarium once only at the beginning. Wait for this effect
without changing the bubble count. If the CO ² Permanent Test turns yellow, the CO ² volume must be reduced until the Permanent
Test shows green again. If the CO ² Permanent Test has a blue colour even after a whole day, the bubble count must be increased.
Please note: The CO ² Permanent Test already reacts after around 10 minutes. However, if there is too much CO ² in the
aquarium for example, it may take several hours before it is consumed. CO ² quantities in excess of 30 mg/l can be harmful
to fish. This is why it is a good idea to slowly edge towards the optimum bubble counts. We recommend you only increase the
bubble count by a few bubbles once per minute. While CO ² diffuses into the water – where it is available to the plants – oxygen
and nitrogens solved in the water diffuse into the gas bubbles at the same time as they rise to the surface. On their way to the
water surface the bubbles become smaller, without disappearing altogether, because they have turned into air bubbles with a very
low CO ² content.
Maintenance: If the gas bubbles emerge irregularly and in different sizes due to algae growth on the glass frit, the glass
frit needs to be cleaned using a brush or may need to be replaced.
CO ² Reactor 500
(for CO ² Set 500) (item no. 80185)
Special features:
· optimum adaptabitity through variable diffusion space capacity
· especially low-loss active reactor
· integrated bubble gauge
· suitable for aquaria of up to approx. 500 l (400 l of actual water volume)
Note: There are three factors that influence the capacity of a CO ² reactor:
a) the carbonate hardness of the aquarium water; the higher the carbonate hardness, the more CO ² is
needed to maintain a particular pH-value
b) the water flow; the greater the water flow through the reactor, the greater the amount of gas that can be
dissolved into the water
c) the diffusion space; the greater the CO ² diffusion space, the more gas can be dissolved
