Rack installation

This unit is built for 19" racks (483 mm) but can also be used as a tabletop unit. In order to ensure sufficient
cooling of the unit, air must always be able to flow freely through all air vents. For rack installation, 1 unit is
required. You can fix the unit with four M6 screws.

Cable connections

Disconnect the compressor from the mains and switch off the audio units to be connected before making or
changing the connections. For highest sound quality, only use high-grade, preferably short cables for all
connections.
1)
The compressor can be inserted as required between two audio units (e.g. CD player and PA amplifier
or into a channel of a mixer. Make the audio connections via XLR or 6.3 mm jacks according to
application needs. Both types of connectors for the inputs and outputs can be used for balanced or
unbalanced connections. Balanced cables provide +6 dB more output and guarantee a better protection
against interference in case of long cable runs.
2)
Connect the outputs of the signal source to the inputs of the compressor. The output level of the signal
source must be on line level.
3)
Connect the outputs of the compressor to the inputs of the following audio unit.
4)
Connect the compressor to a mains outlet with the mains cable. Before plugging the unit in, always
make sure that the power supply matches the product specification voltage.
Connector configuration

Selecting the operating mode and the correct operating level

1)
When the compressor is used or processing two different signal sources, all settings for the channels A
and B must be made separately. The LINK button must be released. When a stereo signal is
processed, the channels must be controlled exactly in the same way to prevent shifts in balance. For
this, depress the LINK button (the MASTER and SLAVE indicators light up). All settings will be made
via the operating panel of channel A only and will be effective for both channels in the same way.
Exceptions are the BYPASS switch and the -10dB/+4dB level switch.
2)
Switch on the compressor (power indicator lights up) and press the BYPASS switch to bypass the
signal processing at first.
3)
Feed and input signal to the compressor. The +4dBu lights up. If the OL overload indicator lights up,
reduce the output level on the signal source accordingly. If the output level is too low, press the rear
-10dB/+4dB switch to increase the level internally.
