Important notes
Safety instructions
-
Protect the unit against moisture, dirt and
damage during transport, storage and
operation.
-
Do not operate the unit outside the
specified technical data.
-
Operate only in a closed housing
(distribution cabinet).
-
Earth the unit at the terminals provided
for this purpose.
-
Do not obstruct cooling of the units.
Commissioning/operation
The physical address and the group
addresses are assigned and the parameters
are set with the ETS2 (EIBA Tool software).

Technical data
The brightness sensor HS/S 3.1 controls EIB
actuators as a function of the ambient brightness.
The ambient brightness is signalled to the
brightness sensor via a separately mounted light
sensor (photo-resistor). The maximum permitted
line length is 100 m.
The unit features three switching channels which
can be programmed mutually independently with
the EIBA Tool software (ETS2). The following can
be set for each channel:
- Switching threshold
- Switching behaviour in the case of "darker
than threshold"
- Switching behaviour in the case of
"brighter than threshold"
The ETS2 can be used to program the following
jointly for the three channels:
- Delay time
- Hysteresis
Mounting the brightness sensor
The brightness sensor HS/S 3.1 is designed
for installation in a distributor.
The unit features a clip-on mount for the 35
mm mounting rail DIN EN 50022.
- Position the unit at the scheduled
installation location. The clip-on mount can
be engaged by pressing on the unit.
- The bus lines are connected via a bus
connection terminal.
- Connect the connection cable of the light
sensor to the screw-type terminals (Item
); no special polarity need be observed.

Technical data
Any combination of channels can be deactivated
or activated temporarily (e.g. over the weekend)
on the basis of a 1-byte object. The precondition
for this is a suitable EIB unit (e.g. 4-channel time
switch SW/S 4.5) with which a corresponding bus
telegram is generated.

Mounting the light sensor
When selecting the installation location,
please ensure that no other objects would
cause shadows on the light sensor. If it is
intended to control an outdoor lighting
system, the light sensor should be pointed
in an easterly direction. If it is intended to
control a room lighting system, it is advisable
to point the room sensor in a northerly
direction.
You will not require any special signal cable;
please note the conductor cross-sections
and the max. line length specified in Section
"Technical data". If laying the connection
cable in damp rooms or outside buildings,
the cable must be appropriate for this
purpose. Do not lay the cable near to other
electrical conductors.

Mounting the light sensor
- Release the catch on the rear side and pull
the protective cap up and off.
- Insert the cable from below through the
inlet opening. Shorten the conductors to
such an extent that the cable sheathing
extends through the sealing collar (can be
removed). Screw the strain-relief facility
tight and firmly screw the cable wires in
the screw-type terminals.
- Please use the enclosed mounting
bracket. Fit the light sensor upright with
the cable inlet opening pointing
downwards!
