guard and riving knife. The AS spac-
er sleeves (see Assembly Instruc-
tions, steps 14 and 16) must not be
twisted as otherwise the blade guard
safety devices will not function prop-
erly.
6.1

Setting up the machine

Place the machine on a firm, level
floor.
To align the table surface horizon-
tally, compensate for unevenness or
slippery floor surfaces using suita-
ble materials. Then check that the
machine is stable.
The area around the circular saw
should be free of obstacles and trip-
ping hazards.
Ensure there is sufficient space to
handle larger workpieces.
For maximum upright stability the saw
can be bolted to the floor:
1. Place the fully assembled saw at a
suitable site and mark the bore
holes on the floor.
2. Move saw aside and drill the holes.
3. Align saw with the holes and bolt to
the floor.
A
Risk of injury by inhaling
wood dust!
Always connect a dust collector to
the saw if operating the saw in
closed rooms.

Aligning the saw blade to
the table insert
3
Note:
The settings described in this section
need to be made if you have assem-
bled the site saw yourself according to
the Assembly instructions (BKS assem-
bly kit).
With the pre-assembled site saw the
saw blade has already been aligned
with the table insert (table slot) in the
factory.

Aligning the saw blade to the table
insert
3
Note:
First install the saw blade (see section
'Changing the saw blade').
After you have installed the saw blade,
align it to the table as follows:
1. Remove the four screws:
– BKS 400: Remove the AD
screws (see Assembly instruc-
tions, step 3a) on the sheet metal
motor supports.
– BKS 450: Remove the D screws
(see Assembly instructions, step
3b) on the motor.
2. Align the saw blade so it is centred
with respect to and in a line with the
table insert (table slot).
3. Tighten the four screws.
3
Note:
Then line up the riving knife with the
saw blade (see section 'Aligning the riv-
ing knife').

Adjusting the mitre fence

3
Note:
The settings described in this section
need to be made if you have assem-
bled the site saw yourself according to
the Assembly instructions (BKS assem-
bly kit).
With the pre-assembled site saw the
fence extrusion and angle scale on the
mitre fence have already been adjusted
in the factory.
Aligning the mitre fence at a right
angle
3
Note:
Use a protractor to align the mitre
fence. After aligning the fence make a
trial cut to make sure the mitre fence is
at a right angle.
44
1. Screw in or unscrew the zero screw
(threaded pin) (44) to make fine ad-
justments until the mitre fence is at
a right angle to the saw blade.
2. Tighten the zero screw.
3. Make a trial cut using waste materi-
al from the workpiece.
– Then check the cut in the waste
material using a protractor.
4. If necessary, repeat the adjust-
ments until the mitre fence is at a
right angle.
Aligning the angle scale
3
Note:
For the angle on the mitre fence for mi-
tre cuts to be able to be determined
precisely the angle scale must be
aligned with the nonius scale.
45
46
5. Undo the three sheet metal screws
(45) on the angle scale.
6. Slide the angle scale until its zero
line points to the zero line of the no-
nius scale (46).
7. Tighten the three sheet metal
screws on the angle scale.
Setting the mitre fence to the maxi-
mum mitre angle
3
Note:
The maximum angle for mitre cuts is
45°.
