6. If the chain 10 is overtensioned, turn tensioning
ring 13 anticlockwise to loosen the chain.
7. If the chain 10 is tensioned optimal, lock the chain
bar 11 by tightening the locking knob 14 in clock-
wise direction. Do not use tools.

Lubrication (see figure
Important: The chain saw is not supplied
filled with oil. It is essential to fill with oil
before use. Never operate the chain saw
without chain oil or at an empty oil tank
level, as this will result in extensive dam-
age to the product.
Chain life and cutting capacity depend on op-
timum lubrication. Therefore, the chain is au-
tomatically oiled during operation via the oil
outlet 20.
Filling oil tank:
– Set chain saw on any suitable surface with oil
filler cap 4 facing upward.
– Clean area around the oil filler cap 4 with cloth,
unscrew cap.
– Do not remove filter insert during filling.
– Add Bosch biodegradable chain saw oil until res-
ervoir is full.
– Avoid dirt or debris entering oil tank, refit oil filler
cap 4 and tighten.
Important: To allow venting of the oil res-
ervoir,small breather channels are pro-
vided between the oil filler cap and the
strainer, to prevent leakage ensure ma-
chine is left in a horizontal position (oil
filler cap 4 uppermost) when not in use.
It is important to use only the recommended bi-
odegradable oil to avoid damage to the chain
saw. Never use recycled/old oil. Use of non ap-
proved oil will invalidate the warranty.

Observe the correct mains voltage! The voltage
of the power source must agree with the value given
on the nameplate of the machine. Machines desig-
nated for 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Switching On and Off
Hold chain saw as described in "Cutting".
For switching on the machine, press the lock-off
button 2, then fully press the On/Off switch 3 and
hold in this position. The lock-off button 2 can now
be released.
For switching off, release the On/Off switch 3.
Do not stop chain saw after sawing by activating
the front hand guard (kickback brake).
Temperature-dependent Overload Protection
In case of machine overload, e. g. due to a dull
chain, the motor may come to a standstill, caused by
actuation of the thermal safety switch. Resetting is
carried out by pressing the reset button for the ther-
mal safety switch 25. Afterwards, operate the chain
saw for approx. 1 minute at no load.

Reduced Starting Current
Due to the soft, jolt-free starting of the machine, a
13 A fuse is sufficient.
Kickback Brake/
Run Down Brake
The chain saw is equipped with two chain brake sys-
tems for user safety:
The run down brake automatically stops the chain
and motor after the switch lever (On/Off) 3 is re-
leased.
The kickback brake is a safety mechanism acti-
vated through the front hand guard 5, when kickback
occurs. Chain stop response time is 0.1 sec.
Perform an operational check from time to time.
Push the front hand guard 5 to the front (position
so that the red dot 27 becomes visible under the
mark 7 and briefly switch on the chain saw. The
chain must not start. In order to release the kickback
brake again, pull back the front hand guard 5 (posi-
tion ) so that the red dot 27 is covered under the
mark 7 (see figure
