G. Using the detector
This Chapter describes the applications which can carried out using this product.
It is assumed that you are familiar with the material dealt with in the Operation
Chapter (see Page 9).
Important information when using the detector
Tobacco smoke, contaminated air, oils, fats and humidified liquids or gases can lead to
deposits on the sensor surface. This could reduce the sensitivity of the sensor and
concentration displays could be incorrect. Deposits may also result in a background
concentration being displayed.
Protect the sensor from contamination!
Cleaning sensor: Switch instrument on, run warm-up phase phase, switch off.
Repeat this procedure several times.
According to the DVGW* Sheet G 465-4, gas detectors should be subjected to a
sensitivity test with a cal gas of 1% methane prior to every pipeline network inspection.
Gas concentrations below the lower explosion limit can be reduced by airing the rooms.
Gas explosion!
Danger t t o l l ife!
If the detector indicates that the lower explosion limit has been reached
by UEG (lower explosion limt) in the display and a constant beeping
sound: Leave the building immediately and follow gas supplier or fire
brigade safety measures.
The UEG display and the permanent beep sound will remain even when the measured
gas concentration drops to below the lower explosion limit.
Reset warning message (UEG and permanent beep sound): Hold down
appears in display.
Detecting gases/leaks
Detector is switched on and is in the "Gas concentration" mode.
Search the room/unit for gas concentrations using the gas detector.
