Advice on dealing with insects
• Do not irritate insects by any rapid or hectic movements. Do not
try to swot them.
• Be careful when drinking sweet beverages out of doors, particu-
larly from bottles or cans. Always use a straw!
• Keep well away (3­4 m) from nests and swarms of insects.
• During outdoor activities, always wear close­fitting clothing with
long sleeves.
• If possible, do not kill insects as this releases aromas which can
make other nearby insects aggressive.
• In living areas, carefully trap individual insects using a glass and
a piece of paper and take them outside.
• Fit flyscreens in front of windows and doors.
• Use mosquito nets in sleeping areas.
• Particularly in the case of a known insect allergy, you should be
very careful in dealing with insects and avoid any situations where
a greater number of insects can be expected. If necessary, inform
persons around you about the allergy in order that they can react
promptly in the event of an emergency. If necessary, carry an
emergency kit with you and explain to other persons how to use
it in the event of an emergency.
