• First attach the converter board to your Raspberry Pi
To this end, use the screw set and spacers enclosed.
Keep in mind that not all Raspberry Pi
In tthis case, pay particular attention that the converter does not cause a
short-circuit, e.g. by contact with your Raspberry Pi
• Connect the desired device, e.g. a SATA hard drive, to the converter board. For this
purpose, connect a SATA cable (not included in the package) to the SATA connector
of the converter board and your SATA device.
Keep in mind that an additional voltage supply is required in order to operate
a SATA device.
• Connect the voltage supply to the SATA device, and switch it on, if applicable.
• Connect the micro USB 2.0 cable (not included in the package) to the micro USB 2.0
port (USB_M) of the converter board.
Connect the type-A USB plug to a free USB port on your Raspberry Pi
• When connecting the USB cable it does not matter whether your Raspberry Pi
switched on or off. The converter board will also be recognized without any problem
while the Raspberry device is already in operation.
However, it is important that the connected SATA device is already in opera-
tion, and therefore supplied with power, when you connect the USB cable
to an operating Raspberry Pi
but not the drive.
• Alternatively, you may also use the 5-pin connector (USB_P). Always comply with
the safety instructions. For safety instructions please refer to the data sheet in Eng-
lish provided by the manufacturer or included in the data sheet of the board itself. In
addition, pay attention to the documentation of the Raspberry Pi
(VCC = 5 V/DC; GND = earth; D+ = data cables +; D- = data cables -)
• The converter as well as the connected drive are detected and installed automati-
cally. An external driver is not required.
Depending on the operating system and the connected drive, it might however be
necessary to first register the drive in the system or partition and format it.
• Once a data transfer or access to the SATA device takes place, the green LED on the
board starts to flash.
PC or MAC:
• You can also operate the converter board on a PC or MAC.
• The installation and operation on a PC or MAC is done in the same way as with the
Raspberry Pi
.

When installing the converter board in computers, pay attention to the spe-
cial safety instructions in these instructions.
Since the screw set is intended only for the attachment to a Raspberry Pi
pay particular attention that the converter does not cause a short-circuit,
e.g. due to contact with your PC housing.
If the 5-pin connector (USB_P) is used, follow the instructions in the manual
of your computer or the main board in order to ensure correct pin assign-
ment.
