Example: if air is removed from one side of a diaphragm, the atmospheric
pressure will exert a force on the other side of the diaphragm.
Vacuum is commonly measured on the manometer in inches of Mercury (inHg)
and in bars.

Assembly and Using

I
1. According to application, assemble the vacuum pump as shown in the
drawing I for connecting the vacuum pump directly with the component that
has to be tested or as shown in the drawing II by attaching the reservoir jar.
Make sure the marking "To Pump", printed on the suction cover, has to be
connected in direction to the pump.
2. For connecting the extension tube (3) to the bleeder valve of the respective
system, use the included adaptors and connectors (8).
Hints:
Make sure all tubes lay fold-free.
Make sure all components to be tested are leak-free (pipes, tubes, hose
connections, diaphragm or bleeder valves). For testing leaks (e. g. on a
diaphragm) create a vacuum of approx. -0.33 bars (-10 inHg) and follow the
needle on the manometer. When the needle moves in direction to Zero the
tested diaphragm is leaking air. If the needle remains steadily in one position,
the diaphragm is leak-free.
For creating a vacuum press the movable handle lever several times with your
hand until the manometer shows the needed vacuum. To release the vacuum
press the vent valve on the vacuum pump inwards.
