Theremotecontrol,in its factoryconfiguration,isableto controlapproximately 90 percentof all
TVsets for whichit wasdesigned. Generally, thereis noneed to program settings. Iftheremote
controldoesnot work, selectoneof the possible settingsdescribed in Section6.2
Manual input of the code for the TV set

Keyfunction in TV mode
• Generally speaking, whentheremote control i sused to operate TVs (using infrared), onytheblue
highlightedkeysareoperable
• Thefour colouredkeys(red/green/yel owlblue)are likewiseintendedfor controllingTV-specific
functions (forexample, videotext orsettings)
• If youfind that somekeysdo not work,this maybe because their functionis not supportedby
yourspecificTVversion.Usual y thesefunctionscan be subsequently p rogrammed usingthe
remotecontrol'slearningfunction(seefol owing section)

Theremotecontrolhassomeself-illuminatingkeys with a luminescent c olour Forthe keysto
illuminatein the dark,chargingvia an externallight sourceisnecessary.
Therefore, d o not keepthe remotecontrolin darkplaces(for example,drawers).
Manual learning function
Thelearningfunctionallowsthe functionsof a remotecontroloperatingwith infrared(IR)
transmission (referredto belowas 'RCA') to be copiedto the Thomson universal r emotecontrol
('RCT') Thiscan help if the codelistdoesnot providean appropriatecodefor yourTVsetmodel,or
if too few functionsaresupportedafter codeentry
• Beforeperformingthe learningfunction,makesurethat the infraredtransmittersof the deviceto
be copied(RCA) and of the Thomson remotecontrolarefacingeachotherand no morethan 3
cmapart,and that the infraredsensors are positioned sothat theyaredirectlyopposite.
• Pres s andhold the(FN) a nd(L)keys o nRC Tfor3seconds until t he„L"symbol appears onthe
display
• Press a ndholdthekeythatisto beprogrammed on RC T.Waituntilthe„L" symbol flashes onthe
displayandthe Standby keyis lit constantly. P lease notethat onlythe blue highlightedkeys
andthe colouredkeysareindividual y programmable/have I R learningcapability.
• OnRC A, briefly press thebuttonto becopied. T he„L' symbol n olonger f lashes, andtheStandby
keyLED flashes three timesandgoes out Please e nsure y oupress t hebuttononlybriefly, t o
preventthe learningof mutipe Rcommands
Make sure you continue to hold the key being taught on RCT until this process has
finished!
• Now release the keywith the learntcodeon RCT
• Press t he„L" keyonRC Tto store theprogramming process
• To complete thelearning m ode, press t heFN+L key again („L"goes outontheLCD display)
• Thencheckwhetherthe learntfunctioncan be controlledon the TVset usingRC T; if not, repeat
the procedure.
• Youcan nowindividuallyprograma further keyin the sameway.
O Note
• Pre-programmed codesand keyswith learntcodeswill still be retained
• Thelearningfunctioncan be considerably impairedbystronglight sources; y ou should
therefore a voidperforming t hisfunction in strong sunlight o r LED light,or inthevicinity of
plasmaTVs
• Thelearntfunctionswill not be lostwhenyou replacethe batteries!
