P142
Operating instructions level transmitter
SAFETY NOTES
The level transmitter P142 is a hydrostatic pressure sensor for measuring
the level of liquids. If used incorrectly, application related dangers may
arise, e.g. product overflow through incorrect installation or adjustment.
The transmitter must be installed, connected, commissioned, operated
and maintained by qualified and authorised personnel only, under strict
observance of these operating instructions, relevant national standards
legal requirements, and where appropriate, the product certification.
Operating pressures and overpressures are to be observed, see type label
and data sheet.
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF USE
1. It must be ensured that there is no damage to the membrane during
installation, operation or maintenance. Dangers caused by aggressive
media or mechanical stress must be excluded. If the membrane is
damaged, the level probe must be taken out of operation and replaced
immediately. Repairs can only be carried out by the manufacturer. With
a damaged membrane, neither the intrinsic safety of the probe nor its
measurement accuracy can be guaranteed.
2. The connection cable must be laid protected. Static charge and
mechanical stress must be excluded. The manufacturer is not liable for
damage resulting from improper use.
3. The housing of the probe must be connected to the equipotential
bonding of the system by a direct conductive connection or by connec-
ting the cable shielding.
INSTALLATION
The protective cap should remain mounted during operation because it
protects the membrane from contaminants in the medium. The function
of the transmitter is nearly independent of its orientation. A sideways
movement of the cable probe can lead to measuring errors.
Therefore, install the probe at a point free from flow and turbulence,
or use a guide tube. The cable must end in a dry room or in a proper
terminal housing with GORE-TEX® filter.
OPERATING CONDITIONS
Ui ≤ 30 V, Ii ≤ 150 mA, Pi ≤ 750 mW
The effective internal inductance of level transmitter and cable
conntection is 0 µH + cable length [m] * 1 µH/m
The effective internal capacitance of level transmitter and cable
conntection is 11,12 nF + cable length [m] * 200 pF/m
PT100 or PT1000 option only: Ui ≤ 20 V, Ii ≤ 320 mA, Pi ≤ 100 mW
The effective internal inductance of level transmitter and cable
conntection is 0 µH + cable length [m] * 1 µH/m
The effective internal capacitance of level transmitter and cable
conntection is 0 nF + cable length [m] * 200 pF/m
All electrostatic charges of cables or plastic components through friction
or flowing media must be prevented by the user.
