particles, that can be created through various uses of the power tool. A dust or respiratory
mask filters the dust emerging during the application. If you are exposed to noise for a long
time, you might suffer from hearing loss.
Make sure that other persons keep a safe distance from your workspace. Every person that
enters the workspace must wear personal safety equipment. Broken-off pieces of the work
material or broken attachments can fly off and cause injury also outside the workspace.
Hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces only, when performing an operation
where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a live
wire can make other metal parts of the power tool become „live„ and lead to electric shock.
Keep power cables away from rotating attachments. If you lose control, the cord may be cut
or snagged and your hand or arm may be caught into the rotating attachment.
Never lay the power tool down until the attachment has come to a complete stop. The
rotating attachment may hit the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.
Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side. Accidental contact with the rotating
attachment could snag your clothing, pulling the attachment into your body.
Regularly clean the air vents of the power. The motor fan pulls dust into its housing, and a
large accumulation of metal particles can create an electrical hazard.
Do not operate the power tool near flammable materials. Sparks could ignite these materials.
Do not use an attachment that requires a cooling agent. The use of water or other fluid
cooling agents can cause an electrical shock.
KICKBACK AND CORRESPONDING SAFETY GUIDELINES
A kickback is a sudden reaction as a result of an application tool, like sanding disc, grinding cup
wheel, wire brush, etc., which is stuck or blocking and still rotating. Obstructing or blocking can
lead to an abrupt stop of the rotating attachment.
This could cause an uncontrollable power tool to accelerate on the blocked area against the
rotating direction of the attachment. If, for example, a sanding-disc chips or jammed into the
worked piece, the edge of the sanding-disc, that is driven into the worked piece, can be caught
and cause the sanding-disc to break or cause a kickback or recoil. The sanding-disc moves itself
the with the operating person or away from them, depending on the rotating direction of the disc
at the blocked area. This can also lead to the sanding-discs breaking. A kickback is the result of
an incorrect use of the power tool. This can through precautionary measures, as described below,
be prevented.
Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and position your body and arm to allow yourself to
resist kickback forces. Always use the auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control
over kickback or torque reactions during the start-up. The operator can control
torque reactions or kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.
Do not bring your hand near the rotating attachment. The kickback can cause the attachment
to move over to your hand.
