PREAMPLIFIER SECTION
1. INPUT GAIN – this rotary switch adjusts the input gain
of the valve preamplifier in 5 dB increments. Range is
-10 dB to +10 dB.
2. INPUT SELECT – use this switch to select the input and input
impedance. Select between:
• Mic 500 Ω (uses socket 28 on rear panel).
• Mic 2 kΩ (uses socket 28 on rear panel).
• Line (uses socket 27 on rear panel). Nominal impedance
is 15 kΩ.
• Hi-Z 47 kΩ (uses socket 5 on front panel).
• H-Z 2.2 MΩ (uses socket 5 on front panel).
3. PAD – use this switch to insert a -15 dB pad on the
microphone input before the amplification stage.
4. POLARITY – use this switch to reverse the polarity of the
preamplifer output (socket 26 on rear panel).
5. HI-Z – use this unbalanced 6.35 mm (1/4") TRS jack socket with
high impedance sources such as guitars or basses.
6. LEVEL – use this control to adjust the preamplifier
output level.
7. HIGH FREQUENCY SHELF – use this switch to select the
high frequency shelf point. Select between 4.5 kHz, 7 kHz
and 10 kHz.
8. LOW FREQUENCY SHELF – use this switch to select the low
frequency shelf point. Select between 70 Hz, 100 Hz and
200 Hz.
9. HIGH BOOST/CUT – use this switch to adjust the amount of
boost or cut at the high frequency shelf point. Select between
-9 dB, -6dB, -4.5 dB, -3 dB, -1.5 dB, 0 dB, +1.5 dB, +3 dB,
+4.5 dB, +6 dB or +9 dB.
10. LOW BOOST/CUT – use this switch to adjust the amount of
boost or cut at the low frequency shelf point. Select between
-9 dB, -6dB, -4.5 dB, -3 dB, -1.5 dB, 0 dB, +1.5 dB, +3 dB,
+4.5 dB, +6 dB or +9 dB.
Quick Start Guide
11. JOIN/SPLIT – use this switch to join or separate the two
sections of the 676. When the two sections are joined the
output of the preamplifer section feeds into the compressor/
limiter section, and the preamplifier output compressor/
limiter input (sockets 26 and 24 on the rear panel) are
deactivated. When the two sections are split then they will
operate as separate devices.
12. 48 V – use this switch to add 48 V phantom power to the
preamplifier's microphone input. It is advised that this is done
after the microphone is connected, and that it is switched off
before disconnecting.
COMPRESSOR/LIMITER SECTION
13. ATTACK – use this control to set the attack time of the
compressor/limiter. The available range is 800 ms (Slow)
to 20 µs (Fast).
14. RELEASE – use this control to set the release time of the
compressor/limiter. The available range is 1100 ms (Slow)
to 50 ms (Fast).
15. METER FUNCTION – use this switch to select how the meter
(16) functions. Select between PRE (meter shows preamplifier
output level); GR (meter shows compressor/limiter gain
reduction) or COMP (meter shows compressor output level).
16. METER – the meter responds to whichever function is
selected with switch 15; and has a scale of – 20 dB to +3 dB.
17. INPUT – use this control to adjust the input level of the
compressor/limiter. At higher input levels more compression
will take place.
18. OUTPUT – use this control to adjust the output of the
compressor to make up for gain reduction.
19. RATIO – use this switch to set the compressor/limiter ratio.
Select between Bypass, 1:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1, All (simulates
the '4 button trick' of the 1176 with a ratio of around 100:1
giving a saturated overdrive).
20. POWER INDICATOR.
21. POWER SWITCH.
