RP 251 Press Tool
("devices") running iOS or Android operating
systems. This allows the user to review and
download stored job data and create reports
and update firmware. For the best user expe-
rience, it is recommended that firmware be
kept up to date. Check, and if needed, update
your tool firmware before the first use of the
product and on a regular basis thereafter.
1. Download the appropriate RIDGID
app to your device by going to RIDGID.
com/apps, the Google Play Store or the
Apple App Store.
2. When the tool is ON, the
blink blue when connection to a device is
possible. See Figure 4.
3. Find the RIDGID Link App icon on your
device and launch the app by selecting
the icon. Via the app, search for nearby
tools and select the desired RIDGID tool.
Refer to your device instructions for spe-
cific information on how to connect via
wireless technology. Once connected, the
Light will be lit solid blue.
After the initial pairing, most devices will
automatically connect to the machine
when the wireless technology is active
and in range and if device settings are
configured to do so. Machine should be
less than 33 ft. (10 m) from the device
to be detected. Any obstacle between
the machine and device can reduce the
operational range.
4. After pairing, the system will check for
firmware updates. Follow the app instruc-
tions to initiate the update if needed. Do
not operate the tool while updates are
in progress. While a firmware update is
in progress, no LED's will be ON. Check
app instructions to confirm the new firm-
ware is installed.
5. Follow the app instructions for use. Do
not let the use of the app distract you
from monitoring the process. Inattention
to the process can cause you to lose
control.
6. The wireless communication turns OFF
when the main power removed. Turn
wireless communication off on the device
to reduce device battery drain.

electric shock, crushing injures, attach-
ment failure and other causes, and pre-
vent tool damage.
1. Remove battery from tool.
2. Clean any oil, grease or dirt from the
equipment, especially the handles and
controls. This aids inspection and helps
to prevent the tool or controls from slip-
ping from your grip.
3. Inspect the press tool for:
• Proper assembly, maintenance and
completeness.
• Any broken, worn, missing, misaligned
or binding parts. Confirm fabric loops
are in good condition.
• Smooth movement of attachment
mounting pin between the fully open
and fully closed position. Pin should
lock into each position. Confirm that
the trigger/run switch moves freely and
does not bind or stick.
• Presence and readability of warning
label (Figure 1A or 1B).
• Any other condition which may prevent
safe and normal operation.
Do not use the press tool until prob-
lems have been repaired.
4. Inspect and maintain tool attachments
per their instructions. Remove attachment
from the tool. Confirm that attachments
are in good condition and clearly marked
as to use.
5. Inspect and maintain any other equip-
ment being used per its instructions to
make sure it is functioning properly.
