Function Operations
Definition of the Side Keys
Side key 1 and side key 2 have two functions: long press and short press.
Side key 1: shortly press: Volume +, fixed mode (default).
Side key 2: shortly press: Volume -, fixed mode (default).
Long press: the following functions can be defined through the programming software: OFF, Channel Broadcast,
Scan, Emergency Alarm, Monitor and VOX.
Monitor: if someone is talking on your chosen channel, if there is no signal, the radio will make a rustling sound.
OFF : there are no functions when you long press the side keys.
Channel Broadcast: long press the side key, the voice broadcasts the current channel number of the radio.
Scan: long press the side key to turn on the scan mode when an ON sound is heard. Scan mode will check the
scanned channel activities which defines from 1 to 22 channels (Programming software can define whether the
channel is scannable or not). When the scanned channel has a signal, the radio will automatically stop on that
channel to communicate. To stop scanning, long press the side key, when an OFF sound is heard, that is to exit
scan mode.
Emergency Alarm: when the current channel has a transmitting frequency, long press the side key to turn on
emergency alarm and the radio makes a alarm sound. To exit emergency alarm, press the PTT key.
VOX: when the side key 1 or 2 is set as VOX through the programming software, long press the side key 1 or 2
to turn on or off the function. Note: the VOX level must be set through the programming software, such as the
level is set as 3, the VOX function is effective when long pressing the side key 1 or 2 .
Side key 1: long press: VOX (default)
Side key 2: long press: Emergency Alarm (default)
Squelch Level
The squelch level is a stimulative reference level and is used to set internal squelch threshold in the CPU of the
radio. You can preset the squelch level. In the user mode, the squelch level can be adjusted. Range: 0 (ON) - 9
(Deep) (Step is 1). Default: 3
Battery Save
Battery save: ON: if no operations for 10s, the radio automatically enters the battery save status.
OFF: the radio does not save power.
VOX
The VOX function of the radio is turned on through the programming software. The signal can be transmitted
through the head-mounted earpiece.
a.VOX function: the VOX is effective only when the VOX function is turned on.
b.VOX Gain Level: when the voice level is higher than the set VOX gain level, the VOX automatically transmits.
Gain levels are adjustable: 1-9 levels. Default: 5.
Note: the VOX gain level must be set through the VOX level in the programming software.
Battery Voltage Detection
Low battery alert: when the voltage is lower than 3.3V, the radio prompts "Please charge your radio" every 20s.
TOT
TOT time can be set through the programming software: 30-180s.
CTCSS/DCS
The CTCSS/DCS signaling on the radio channel can be set through the programming software. When the
channel is set to CTCSS/DCS signaling, the squelch is turned on only when the radio receives the same CTCSS
or DCS signal. If uses different CTCSS/DCS to call on the same channel, the squelch is turned off and the radio
flashes green of the indicator.
