Precautions and preventive measures
Water resistance
All UNION GLASHÜTTE/SA.® men's watches and
Seris chronographs are water-resistant up to a pres-
sure of 10 bar (100 m), all ladies' watches (except
for Seris chronographs) are water-resistant up to
a pressure of 5 bar (50 m), and all gold watches are
water-resistant up to a pressure of 3 bar (30 m) in
accordance with the relevant ISO standards. Before
®
being sold, every UNION GLASHÜTTE/SA. watch
is subjected to a series of water-resistance tests. For
example, one test is carried out using high pressure to
simulate the specified depth in order to ensure that no
air penetrates the watch case. Another test exposes
the watch to extreme temperature variations and
water, to ensure the total absence of water condensa-
tion under the watch crystal.
Important:
The water resistance rating of our watches is based
on laboratory pressure tests, comparable to the
pressure conditions to which a stationary swimmer
or diver is exposed. As most water sports activities
involve a lot of movement and frequent changes of
position, the actual pressure the watch is exposed to
may vary in particular cases, and may be higher than
during the tests.
