Instructions for installing and using Collision Sentry ®
Multi-Zone Collision Warning Device
1.
Remove from package
Each carton includes two Collision Sentry
Multi-Zone units and a package of D-Cell
batteries for operation. These units operate
as one set. Remove the units from the
packaging. Check the back of the units to
verify that both serial numbers are identical. If
there are any visible signs of product
damage, contact Sentry or your authorized
product distributor immediately.
2.
Activate the product
Always activate the units prior to installation.
To activate the Multi-Zone, you need to install
batteries. Open the Battery Door on one of the
units and insert 6 D-Cell batteries in the
direction indicated on the battery box. It does
not matter which unit is activated first. Once
the batteries are installed, the unit goes
through a warm-up period of about 35
seconds. Activate the second unit in the same
manner with the remaining 6 D-Cell batteries.
During the warm-up sequence, the Alert LEDS
flash red and the status LEDS will blink
red/green/blue in a repeating sequence. At
the end of the warm-up the unit will beep
once.
Until the batteries are installed in the second
unit, the first unit will "look" for its partner. If
the device has not detected its pair, it
displays the "Communication Lost" Blink
Pattern where the Alert LEDS will flash
continuously at a rate of 4 flashes per second.
If the sound is activated, the buzzer will sound
in sync with the Alert LEDS.
It is recommended to power up both devices
within the Warm-Up period (35 seconds). That
way the devices can find each other before
the warm-up sequence is complete and avoid
the "Communication Lost" blink pattern.
3.
Mounting the units
The ideal placement for each unit is at a
height between 7' and 9' (2-2.75 m). The
Collision Sentry Multi-Zone can be
magnetically or mechanically attached to
walls and other substrates.
Installation on metal surfaces
Use the integrated magnet mounts on the
back of the unit to "snap" the unit securely to
a metal surface.
Installation on non-metallic surfaces
Use the integrated mounting points on the
back of the unit for attaching directly to
non-metallic surfaces. The hardware used for
attaching the unit will depend on the
substrate.
4.
Field of vision
The field of vision on the Multi-Zone is
adjustable allowing the area where motion is
picked up to be customized for the specific
situation. Changing the field of vision is done
by adjusting the moveable shades. Each
sensor can range from 50 to 134 degrees.
Depending on the layout of the facility, the
range of distance separating the two units
can be up to 100 feet (30.48 meters).
5.
Normal operation
If the Collision Sentry Multi-Zone has
detected its pair and motion is detected on
both devices, both devices will display the
"Motion Detected" blink pattern. Flashing red
LEDS and an audio indication.
6.
Low-Battery
Battery life depends on usage, but testing
shows this range:
Best – At one alarm per minute at room
temperature batteries are expected to last
four years.
Worst – At -20°, with 55 alarms per minute,
battery life is expected to be four months.
When battery voltage drops below a
specified threshold, a blue light on the front of
the Collision Sentry Multi-Zone flashes and
beeps. Install new batteries.
When the low battery light is activated, the
Collision Sentry Multi-Zone continues to
function for a short period of time. The life
cycle of the batteries depends on usage.
To ensure full protection, change batteries as
soon as the low-battery signal flashes and
beeps.
*The brightness of the Alert LEDS is reduced
when battery voltage drops to the low battery
threshold and temperature is below 0° C.
