Range controller
The volume range in which the control is active is set using
this controller. A range of between 1dB and 24 dB can be
set.
If, for example, the min controller is set to 60 dB and the
range controller to 20 dB, this means that the AVM•1
begins readjusting the signal when the surrounding noise
level reaches 60 dB. It only does this within a 20 dB range
(range).
The effective control range of the surrounding noise level
therefore extends from 60 dB to 80 dB.
The volume of the signal is not increased above 80 dB.
By how much the volume is increased between 60 dB and
80 dB depends on the position of the ratio controller.

Power switch
The power switch switches the AVM•1 on or off.
When the AVM•1 is switched on, at least one LED lights
up on the front panel.
5. Commissioning
5.1 Operating conditions
1.
The permitted ambient temperature during operation is bet-
ween -5°C and +40°C.
2.
The unit may be stored or transported at a temperature of
between -15°C and +40°C.
3.
If during transport or storage, dew forms on the unit, in
particular on the back panel, leave it to acclimatize for
approx. 2 hours before using it.
4.
The unit should be operated in a dry environment with
normal dust and moisture levels in the air. Do not expose
the unit to aggressive chemical liquids or vapors.
5.
The unit can be set up in any position.
5.2 Operating from the mains
The AVM•1 is designed for use at a mains voltage of
230V/50Hz. Special models suitable for other mains voltages
can be supplied on request.
1.
Plug the IEC mains cable into the mains jack (2).
2.
Make sure that the mains voltage printed on the unit mat-
ches that of the mains voltage at the operating site.
Plug the mains cable into a suitable mains socket.
3.
Operating at a different voltage may damage the unit
beyond repair.
Note:
Exchanging the plug on the mains cable should only
be carried out by a qualified specialist.

5.3 Audio connections
1.
Switch the amplifiers off.
2.
Connect up the relevant sound source (e.g. mixing desk) to
input jacks (8) and (12) or (7) and (11) on the AVM•1,
using two symmetrical XLR cables or cinch cables.
3.
Connect output jacks (5) and (9) or (6) and (10) on the
AVM•1 to the corresponding amplifier inputs using two
symmetrical XLR cables or cinch cables.
4.
Plug the XLR connector on the C-1 measuring microphone
into the input C-1 mic only jack on the AVM•1.
5.
Connect your speakers to the amplifier outputs.
6.
Turn the volume on the mixing desk to the minimum set-
ting.
7.
Switch on the amplifiers and turn up the amplifier volume.
8.
Set the volume controller on the AVM•1 to the central
position (5).
9.
Set the volume on the mixing desk to the desired level.
6. Cleaning
Use a damp cloth to remove dust from the housing.
It is recommended that the surface be cleaned using industrial
spirit or a cloth dampened with alcohol.
7. Setting the AVM•1
7.1 Presetting the setup controller
