USE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS - SAXMAG V
Malfunction
Insufficient delivery
1. Back pressure higher than designed
rate
2. Air enters the suction pipe
3. Rotational speed too low
4. Suction line clogged
5. Filter clogged
6. Viscosity higher than designed
7. The pressure relief valve is set for too low a
pressure or is kept open by impurities
8. Insufficient suction pressure
9. Worn pump components (gears, bushings)
The pump does not
1. The inside of the pump casing is dry, with no
self-prime
liquid forming a seal between the rotors and
casing
2. The pump is unable to expel air from the
delivery
3. Excessive suction pressure drops or closed
suction valve
4. Air enters the suction pipe
5. The direction of rotation is wrong
The pump is noisy
1. The pump is cavitating. The vapour pressure of
the pumped liquid is too high
2. The pump is not sufficiently fed. Excessive
liquid viscosity
3. Deformed rotor teeth
4. Pump/Motor misalignment
5. Vibration noise from pressure relief valve
Pump experiences
1. The pumped liquid is abrasive or contains
faster-than-normal
solids
wear
2. Exceeding operational limits
3. Misalignment between pump and motor,
deformations of the casing due to the weight
of the pipes, base not level
Motor overheats or
Incorrect flow rate and/or delivery pressure
overloads
High containment
1. Excessive viscosity of pumped liquid
shell temperature
2. Interruption of cooling fluid flow
3. Desynchronised magnetic transmission
High casing
1. The pumped liquid is abrasive or contains
temperature
solids
2. The pump runs dry
3. Broken pressure relief valve spring
4. Fluid temperature too high
5. Insufficient delivery rate
Possible causes
Solutions
1. Reduce pressure drops on the delivery line
2. Check for leaks in the suction line (in particular,
check seals, threads, welds)
3. If possible, increase the speed (contact the
manufacturer).
4. Eliminate line clogging
5. Clean or replace the filter
6. Reduce viscosity or readjust pump (contact
manufacturer)
7. Set opening pressure. Check valve mechanism
8. Increase suction pressure
9. Renew components
1. Wet the inside of the pump casing
2. Open the shut-off valve in the flow line: if
necessary, vent the delivery line
3. Reduce pressure drops on the suction line.
Open the suction valve
4. Check for leaks in the suction line (in particular,
check seals, threads, welds)
5. Swap the direction of rotation
1. Where necessary, increase diameter of the
pipe. Reduce pressure drops on the suction
line. Reduce the height at which the pump is
installed
2. Reduce the rotation speed. Increase the
diameter of the suction pipe. Reduce pressure
drops on the suction line
3. Check and, if necessary, renew
4. Check the alignment of the coupling between
the motor and the pump
5. Increase calibration pressure
1. Install a suction filter; check the materials
selected (contact the manufacturer). Decrease
delivery pressure
2. Review pump selection (consult manufacturer)
3. Re-align pump-motor alignment Support
piping
Check that the delivery pipes
Contact the Manufacturer
1. Contact the Manufacturer
2. Check that the filter is not clogged; remove
any obstructions in the cooling circuit
3. Reduce delivery pressure and/or delivery
Reduce delivery pressure and/or flow rate
