1.
Head adjustments
a
1. Record/Play head height
No adjustment provided for height of R/P head
(K1, K101).
a
2. Record/Play head azimuth (Fig. 4)
— Connect both LINE (TAPE) outputs of apparatus
parallel to a millivoltmeter or an oscilloscope.
_— Play the 10 kHz signal on the azimuth test
cassette.
— Adjust screw C for maximum output voltage.
The output voltage is not allowed to vary more
than 1.5 dB, otherwise tape threading needs to be
checked.
|
b.
Erase head height
No adjustment provided for height of erase head (K2).
Note:
After mechanical adjustment of the R/P head, the
following electrical measurements and adjustments
need to be performed:
|
a.
Playback sensitivity and indicators
b.
Bias current
c.
Recording sensitivity
d.
Frequency response
2.
Pressure roller (Fig. 5)
The pressure roller pressure exerted on the capstan
shouid be within the range of 360-440 grammes.
This can be checked as follows:
Select PLAY mode (no cassette inserted).
Use the spring scale and a length of cord to pull the
pressure roller away as shown in Fig. 5.
Allow the pressure roller and the spring scale to
return gradually to the capstan.
|
Read the scale indication at the moment at which
the pressure roller just comes into contact with the
capstan.
|
|
The pressure roller pressure cannot be adjusted. If
this pressure roller is found to be incorrect, replace
pressure roller spring 233.
3.
Play take-up torque and supplying reel drag
Select PLAY mode after insertion of the friction test
cassette.
The play take-up torque should be within the range
of 30-55 g.cm.
The supplying ree! drag should be within the range
of 4-8 g.cm.
4.
Fast Forward and Rewind Torque Limiter 274
FF/Rew torque limiter 274 can be adjusted.
The torque is allowed to be approx. 80 g.cm.
Install a 1-9 resistor in series with the motor.
Select PAUSE
mode (no cassette inserted).
Measure the voltage across the 1-0 resistor and
note the value measured.
Select REWIND
mode and block the left carrier 221;
note the voltage across the 1-1/ resistor.
The voltage rise A V should be 115 + 15 mV.
If necessary, adjust the FF/REW torque limiter (refer
to Fig. 6).
Remove the 1-2 resistor.
SERVICING HINTS
1.
Replacement of Record/Play head K1, K101 (Fig. 4)
Insert lug A in the recess intended for the support on
the head slide (208).
Take care that the two bearing faces of the R/P head
are entered into the associated recesses of the upper
supporting points B.
The head is fastened with screw C. This screw C also
serves as adjusting screw for azimuth correction.
2. Tape speed
When servicing the tape transport, it is recommendable
to check the tape speed.
After replacement of component parts susceptible to
wearing-in, like belts and motor, it is advisable to adjust
the motor speed to a —1% deviation after servicing.
After a very short period the recorder will meet the
desired 0% tape speed deviation.
When servicing electronic components, like ICs,
resistors and capacitors, the tape speed should
preferably be set to 0%.
Connect the LINE (TAPE) output of apparatus to a
wow- and flutter meter.
Play the 3150 Hz signal on the test cassette
SBC126Cr.
— With R478 on the motor contro! print U201 (Fig. 8)
~ the speed may be adjusted.
MAINTENANCE
AND LUBRICATION
INSTRUCTIONS
It is advised to clean the tape deck and lubricate the
principal points after approx. 500 hours of operation.
1. To be cleaned with alcohol or spirit
