Operating Instructions
for the user and the qualified installer
Description
FB 1 and FB 2 are modules for the installation
and remote operation of Stiebel Eltron
instantaneous water heaters, DHE 18 - 27
electronic comfort (Order Nos. 07 34 73,
07 34 74, 07 34 75, 07 34 76).
Operation
The functions of the control unit are
described in the operating and
installation instructions for the
DHE 18 - 27 electronic comfort.
FB 1
The DHE instantaneous water heater and the
FB 1 remote control allow for the operation
of the unit from another location.

Scope of supply
– Panel (1) for device cover
– Wall mount (2) for the control unit part of
the device, for fitting on a concealed or
surface-mounted socket
– Connection module (3)
FB 2
The DHE instantaneous water heater and the
FB 2 remote control, in addition to the
operation of the device, also allow it to be
operated from a different location. By pressing
one of the two temperature setting buttons, a
control block will be activated on the second
control unit.
Risk of scalding
To provide protection against scalding
when working two operating elements, the
setting protection device is to be actuated;
to do this, press the temperature setting
button.
The control block will prevent undesired
temperature adjustment.
These symbols light up on the display of the
remote control unit:
Priority on this control unit
Control unit blocked
Automatic reset of the control block takes
place 5 mins. after the end of the tap
procedure.
The control block can be deactivated on the
control unit with the symbol
pressing the temperature setting button.
The symbols will be deleted on the control
unit display.

Care
A damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning the
housing. Do not use any abrasive or solvent
cleaning agents.

Regulations
When installing the FB 1 or FB 2
remote control units, the operating
and installation instructions for the
DHE 18 - 27 electronic comfort
instantaneous water heater are also to be
taken into account.
Before a remote control is fitted, the unit
must be electrically disconnected, the cold
water feed is to be shut off, and the unit
taken off the wall.
To protect against water penetration, the
cable seals provided are to be fitted.
Protection mode IP 25 (protected against
spray water) will only be guaranteed with
the cover (1) or the control unit (4) fitted
on the water heater.
Specific national regulations are to be
respected.
Installation location
Installation in a protection area (requirement
IP X4 or IP X5) is possible (safety extra-low
voltage). The remote control is installed in a
special wall mount at an easily accessible
location.
Installation in an area subject to spray water
from a hand-held shower is to be avoided.
Connection cable for FB 1,
FB 2
The remote control units are operated at
safety extra-low voltage. Perfect
communications are guaranteed up to a
connection length of 15 metres.
Control line:
Telephone line type J-YY 2x2x0,6
(without metallic screening).
It is permissible for the control line to be
permanently laid, either concealed or on the
wall surface.
No screened cable may be used in
protection area 1.
Installation
Remote control FB 1
– Open the cover cap of the instantaneous
water heater (6), release the securing screw
(priority) by
(7), and take off the cover.
– Draw the thermostat fly lead cable (8) out
of the control unit (9) and remove it from
the heater unit.
– Take the control unit out of the cover (9);
to do this, release the screws (10).
– Screw the cap into the cover (1).
Remote control FB 2
– Open the cover cap of the instantaneous
water heater (6), release the securing screw
(7), and take off the cover.

Dismantling the control unit in the
wall mount
1. Release the lower screw (12) in the wall
mount.
2. Unclip the control unit with a screwdriver
(13) and take it out.
Wall mount, surface fitting A
1. Cut out or break out a hole (14) for the
connection cable in the cable seal and the
wall mount.
2. Secure the wall mount with screws (15).
3. Feed the connection cable through the
cable seal and connect it to the terminal
strip (16); same sequence as in position 30.
4. Connect (17) the plug to the control unit
(4).
5. Fit the control unit onto the wall mount,
engage it, and turn it to tighten it (18).
Wall mount installation on concealed
socket B
1. Cut a hole (19) for the connection cable in
the cable seal.
2. Feed the connection lead through the
securing plate (20) provided, then screw
the plate onto the socket.
3. Secure the wall mount with screws (21).
4. Feed the connection cable through the
cable seal and attach it to the terminal strip
(22); same sequence as in position 30.
5. Connect (23) the plug to the control unit
(4).
6. Fit the control unit onto the wall mount,
engage it, and turn it to tighten it (24).
Fitting the connection cable in the rear
wall of the unit
1. Break a hole (25) in the rear wall to feed
the cable through.
2. Cut the cable seal provided at the taper
point (26), and push it through the
aperture broken in the rear wall.
3. Cut the connection cable (27) to length, at
least 300 mm.
4. Draw the connection cable (28) through
the cable seal.
Fit the connection module
1. Remove the sheathing on the connection
cable over about 35 mm (29), and remove
the insulation for 6 mm at the cable ends.
2. Connect the connection lead to the
terminal strip (30), and apply the same
subsequent sequence as in position 16
respectively 22, lay the lead in the cable
bushing, and slide the lid closed.
3. Secure the connection module in the rear
wall (31).
4. Fit the plug (32) of the connection module
at position X2.
