Underwater Photography
The best time for underwater photography is when the sun is directly overhead (note
that pictures taken underwater may have a blue cast). While shooting, avoid exhaling
bubbles into the frame.
Shots can be taken at ranges of as little as 4 cm (1.6 in.) when zoom is adjusted so that
the
icon in the monitor turns green. Note that the fl ash may be unable to light the
entire subject at distances of 30 cm (1 ft) or less, and its range may vary with depth and
clarity. It may also refl ect from suspended materials, producing brights spots in the
picture. Take a test shot and view the results in the monitor.
The AF-Assist Lamp
The AF-assist lamp can not be used when the camera is in the WP-CP5.
Reactivating the Monitor
If no operations are performed for about fi ve seconds, the monitor will gradually dim
to save power. If no operations are performed about a minute, the monitor will turn
off altogether. The monitor can be reactivated by pressing the shutter-release button
halfway. See pages 12 and 79 of the camera manual for more information.
