* In CPAP Mode, press the Delay button on the keypad and the pressure will stay at a low level for a preset time interval. You may repeat this
delay time by pushing the button again if you have not fallen asleep during the first delay period.
NOTE—Your provider has set a Delay Time in the unit. Delay time can be from 0 to 45 minutes in 5-minute increments. To change: scroll to Delay
using the Select button and use the Up/Down buttons to select the delay time. If you are unable to change the delay time, your provider
has locked this setting.
* In AutoAdjust Mode, press the Delay button on the keypad and the pressure will drop to the lower pressure limit.
NOTE—Your provider has set an AutoAdjust Delay in the unit. Delay time can be from 0 to 240 minutes in 10-minute increments.
4. If you take your mask off during the night, your AutoAdjust CPAP will automatically stop providing pressure. If the Mask Alert is enabled, an
audible alert will be present for 20 seconds. Pressing any keypad button will silence this audible alert. Pressing any keypad button a second
time will remove the visible alert from the display. When you put your mask back on and start breathing again, the AutoAdjust CPAP will
start operating. If desired, you can use the Delay feature again at this time to get back to sleep.
NOTE—A large system leak will result in a Mask Alert. If the cause of the alert is corrected, the visible and audible alert will cancel and be reset.
5. In the morning, take your mask off and press the ON/OFF button on the keypad to shut the blower off. The automatic shutoff feature will
shut the blower off if you do not push the ON/OFF button. There will be a 20-second audible alert during the shutdown period if the Mask
Alert is enabled. Pushing any keypad button will silence this audible alert.
HOW THE AUTOADJUST WORKS
The AutoAdjust CPAP system provides automatic pressure adjustment. The device is equipped with a pneumotachometer, which monitors the air
flow signal for purposes of identifying any flow restrictions and snoring episodes often associated with respiratory events. The AutoAdjust CPAP
device has been designed to minimize these flow restrictions, which often lead to arousal and fragmented sleep by automatically increasing the
pressure in the presence of respiratory events. A proprietary pressure adjustment control algorithm has been developed by Sunrise Medical, which is
based around event density and event type.
The pressure profile changes are gradual so as to prevent arousals of sleep architecture, but are timely to respond to respiratory events requiring
pressure adjustments. The device also reduces airway pressure in an attempt to minimize the average supplied pressure administered throughout the
night. Refer to Diagram 1 of a typical pressure profile and associated operating states.
A)
Blower turned on or breathing is detected, pressure is increased to the lower pressure limit prescription setting.
A-B) Unit senses respiratory events and adjusts pressure.
B-C) Pressure returns to the lower limit as events become less frequent. (Note-Pressure cannot be less than the lower pressure limit).
C-D) Respiratory events resume and the pressure is automatically adjusted to reduce the number of events.
D)
Pressing the Delay button on the front of the unit causes the pressure to drop to the lower pressure limit. This permits the pressure to be
reduced making it easier to fall back asleep more comfortably.
D-E) The AutoAdjust unit detects respiratory events and automatically adjusts the pressure level.
E)
Pressure has been automatically increased and has reached the upper pressure limit prescription setting for the product. (Note-Pressure
cannot go over the upper limit regardless of events.)
F)
A mask off condition has been detected by the AutoAdjust CPAP and the unit has turned the blower off.
G-H) Breathing signals have been sensed at the mask and normal operation of the unit has resumed. When breathing is detected within one
minute of a mask off condition, the pressure is raised to 80% of the previous level. If more than one minute, the pressure is raised to the
lower pressure limit.
H)
The unit is switched off.
