CLEANING
Clean and inspect the AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc Flash Faceshield before and after each use. To clean/disinfect, rinse
in 1% solution of mild detergent and dry with a soft cloth. DO NOT USE abrasive cleaners. Ensure all components are
correctly reassembled before use.
STORAGE
Store the AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc Flash Faceshield in the protective box provided with the product. (NOTE: Other
packing materials may contain solvents which can decrease the level of protection.) Store the AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc
Flash Faceshield out of sunlight in a clean and dry environment. Do not store in temperatures below -10°C or exceeding
45°C. Do not expose the AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc Flash Faceshield to any arc welding operation.
MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Ensure wing nuts remain tight to allow the faceshield to be stowed securely.
The AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc Flash Faceshield (including the permanently attached chin protector) must be replaced if:
• it is scratched or damaged,
• it has been exposed to an arc flash,
• it has been exposed to chemicals, oils or lubricants*,
• it is damaged by mechanical impact*,
• it has reached the end of its usage life (see Inspection and Usage Life section)
• it has been exposed to high heat or over exposed to sun light*,
• it has been exposed to fire*.
* ATTENTION: Damage caused by these incidents may not be visible.
INSPECTION AND USAGE LIFE
Inspect the faceshield regularly and replace any damaged or worn components.
Under normal circumstances the faceshield should offer adequate protection for 5 years.
Do not reuse the faceshield after an arc flash incident. If the faceshield has been exposed to an arc flash incident or subject to any
damage outlined above it must be replaced.
HAZARDS ASSESSMENT
In order to select appropriate eye and face protection, a hazard and risk assessment must be carried out by authorised
personnel with the relevant training and qualifications. The eye and face protector must never be used in environments with
a higher risk rating that the protection rating indicated on the marking.
The AFP-25 Helmet Mounted Arc Flash Faceshield must be combined with further arc flash protective PPE such as helmets,
garments, gloves and any other equipment deemed appropriate in the hazard and risk assessment.
Inappropriate usage, for example at higher arc exposures, may cause severe damage to the health and endanger the life of
the user.
