6 Further settings

6.1 Wellness mode (as supplied preset)

No further settings are necessary for this mode
Please note that for Wellness and Cleaning modes the water hardness remains unaltered and
therefore washing machines and dishwashers should be operated as before, that is with the
same quantities of washing, rinse and softening materials as before.
Even in the Wellness mode some removal of deposits may occur and in the initial period this
may lead to some detached particles of scale appearing at the outlets.

6.2 Cleaning mode

7
This mode of operation with increased magnesium salt consumption should be selected for
only a specified period to clear existing deposits from old systems
To activate the cleaning mode, carefully turn the setting screw 7 on the external plastics
adapter

on the
Cool clockwise to stops using a hexagon key.
NOTE: Do not turn too far! Re-opening the screw by about
from blocking.
Depending on the degree of scaling in the pipework the Cleaning mode should be used for
approximately 3 to 6 months.
In this time approximately twice as much salt will be consumed as would happen in the
normal Wellness mode
NOTE: For this reason keep a special check on salt level in the container while the unit
is in the Cleaning mode.
In the Cleaning mode scale deposits which have become detached from the pipework
walls may appear at the outlets
To change back from the Cleaning mode to the normal operating condition (Wellness
mode), simply reset to the original position of the setting screw 7
Applying a hexagon key, turn counter-clockwise until stop and then turn back
clockwise again by 4 1/2 turns.

6.3 Soft water mode

In the Soft water mode the water is fully or partly softened by the removal of hardness-
generating elements. In general this is not required for drinking water but is meaningful in those
cases where the water is primarily to be used for cleaning purposes with washing and rinsing
materials (for example in commercial washing machines, dishwashers and in catering).

To prepare the
Cool for use in the Soft water mode the appliance must be modified
using conversion set AU 51-A. The appliance can be converted in a few minutes following the
instructions supplied with the kit.
7
1.
Completely empty the appliance of salt and water and clean out thoroughly.
2.
Fit conversion kit AU 51-A and fit safety protection (if required by national regulations for
softeners).
3.
Prepare for putting into service as a softener (see: Putting into Service, section 4).
4.
After completion of the manual regeneration cycle, set the residual hardness value to the
required value using setting screw 7
• Turn the setting screw clockwise to stops using a hexagon key
• Then open anti-clockwise as far as is necessary to reach the desired hardness setting
To establish the residual hardness, take a water sample from test cock 8 on
the side of the plastics connection adapter which is marked "service out".
NOTE: Local regulations may require that for drinking water, a residual hardness of at
least 8ºdH (140 ppm) must remain. In addition care must be taken when the
hardness level has been set, that the sodium level does not exceed the
permitted value according to national legislation. To establish the residual
hardness setting levels for this purpose, the illustration and the performance
examples from the chart (see section 6.3.1) can be referred to.
