4. Installation
4.1 General installation guidelines
• The fitting of a Honeywell fine filter is recommended to protect against dirt
• A pressure reducing valve must be fitted upstream where the inlet pressure is greater
than 8.0 bar.
• A drain outlet must be available which can be reached using a kink-free hose with a
maximum distance of 5 metres and no more than 2 metres height difference.
• All installation work must be carried out by competent persons
• Protect appliance against frost and extreme heat.
• The appliance is fitted with a non-return check valve and therefore must not be fitted
between a water heater and the pressure relief safety valve.
• After installation, set the water hardness and manually actuate a regeneration cycle.
• If the appliance is operated in the Soft water mode, then a safety combination (or higher
safety protection) to protect against backflow (as specified in DIN 1988) may be
required to satisfy national requirements. Honeywell backflow preventers are suitable for
this purpose.
· In Soft water mode connected to galvanised pipework, phosphate dosing equipment

4.2 Preparation of the pipework

Fit the DA 74 C connector piece in the pipework
• Ensure that flow is in the direction of the arrow
• Fit to horizontal or vertical pipework
• Fit so that twisting or bending stresses are avoided
When installing the device without using AS 51-A:
Open pipe and install the device by its standard connectors (
pipes (not supplied with the device).
Connector adapter:
The Noryl connector adapter (1a) is equipped with two sampling points for convenient
sampling and analysing of the feed and effluent of the device. The device may also be
bypassed and hydraulically separated from the water flow. For this purpose, turn the upper grip
of the adapter thoroughly until the arrow points to the word "bypass".
It is also possible to adjust the flow direction through the adapter, for example if the back
pressure regulator needs to be fitted on the opposite side for room restrictions. Press the
lower ring of the adapter downwards and turn until "Service out" shows up on the desired
effluent side. Then turn the upper grip until the arrow points to "Service out". The back
pressure regulator must always be fitted on the effluent side marked with "Service out".
