The installation can be done in horizontal as well as in vertical pipelines. The flow sensor
•
is only suitable for use in completely filled pipes. A free outlet must be avoided at all
costs.
The arrow on the flow sensor () shows the only permitted flow direction.
•
To achieve the highest possible measuring accuracy, the flow sensor must be used with
•
a straight inlet and outlet section of the corresponding nominal width (DN). The inlet sec-
tion should be at least 10 x DN and the outlet section 5 x DN.
The inlet and outlet sections and the gaskets must have the same or a slightly larger in-
•
side diameter than the flow sensor in order to achieve the specified accuracy.
The pipeline can be narrowed or widened before and after the flow sensor.
The pipe of the screw connection must have a collar at the connec-
•
tion point. The face of the collar serves as sealing area.
The collar is pressed against the gasket and the flow sensor by the
screw connection.
The flow medium to be monitored should contain as little solid parti-
•
cles as possible.
Any particles must not be larger than 0.4 mm (VTY10), 0.5 mm (VTY15) or 1.0 mm
(VTY20 and VTY25). If necessary, filters must be installed!

If the specified lengths of the inlet or outlet sections cannot be maintained in prac-
tice, this has a direct influence on the specified pulse rate and the measuring ac-
curacy of the device.

2.1 Mounting

FLUSH THE PIPE
Before installing the flow sensor in the pipeline, it must be thoroughly flushed. This
prevents any dirt caused by the installation from blocking the turbine.
IMPORTANT
Malfunction with fibrous sealants.
 When sealing the external thread with fibrous sealants, no residues of the
sealant may get into the flow.
 Preferably, use flat gaskets of the correct size.
